Oh Yeah, this movie has extremely silly plot. So many mistakes so many "..wtf??..". I should agree, the idea to show the relation between German solder and Jewish girls during ww2 is cool but could be made in more intelligent way. She carries Oscar kid and this seems is not be a problem for her husband. Also it is not a problem to sing in cabare and behave like a slut despite her jewish supposably appearance. Later She almost got knocked up by the Oscars father (..Ya-ya its a movie..), but on the top of all a mad German chess looser decided to kill her baby. So the whole story is kind of cooked up tail to attract wide audience.
I gave the movie 2/10 and this was mostly for the good play of Scarf and Dobrev. The shots were OK and the music score (if its original) was well sounding.
Somebody here said that this movie is embarrassment for all involved. I agree with that. In overall it is the worst WWII movie I've ever seen.

I agree, this was very bad! Having read the description on the back of the DVD before renting it I thought that Oscar and Rachel would have been together prior to the beginning of the war, and the fact that they met once and got it on and decided they were madly in love was totally unconvincing, maybe i'm not sentimental but I just didn't find the love plausible and as that was the main emphasis of the movie the rest of it really just fell apart.

Anyone who can sit all the way thru this garbage deserves the Iron Cross First Class!

The really sad part is that with slightly better script, this might have become really, really good film. I mean love story between german soldier and jewish woman in german during WWII... Now that's something.

But I agree what other's have said. One principle error is that relationship should have start prior WWII and maybe prior Chrystal Night. It would have made completely different impact if we would have watched the lovers right before war and during it. As movie now, its very unbelievable.

Story had so much potential with slughtly better script. its truely a shame...
