Questions after the movie... SPOILERS

If anyone can answer and explain or just offer their views, I'd really appreciate it.

1) Why does, according to subtitling, Min call Julian "brother" even after she knows he's not her brother?

2) Why doesn't Julian pay back the moustached man when he gets money from Min?

3) The ending... So they both die and "heaven" is a snowy land where it's not cold? What the hell..

reply

1) Subtitles can be misleading, "oppa" can be a brother or a bf

2)Guess he got greedy...

3)Snowy land...is the girls "heaven", just like the snowy house in that glassed toy...

What?
I thot he didnt' pay him back because he felt guilty. He did NOT used the inheritance money and even return it back to her in the end right? Saw the envelopes he passed to that old guy before her surgery?? He even worked himself a lot just to pay for her surgery right? My take is...he is willing to face whatever comes even if he can't pay on time.

I know, old question, but I thought I'd add stuff. He did use the money Min gave him. He started his own host business or whatever, the way he intended to start his own line at the beginning of the movie (but he got busted by the boss). He earned a lot of money, but he didn't pay back mustache guy, because he used the money to pay for and arrange the surgery for Min. Note, it was a different doctor, a lady, not the old man, probably a really good one. But he wasn't willing to face whatever, because with the remaining money, he bought his plane ticket to escape, and he would've if the girl didn't ditch surgery...

I get it in the end she died. So after he died did she decide not to go through with the surgery or did she die in surgery? I had hoped that they would kiss. That was the only let down for me.

I'll start with the first set of questions by veracious_lies. Bear in mind the following responses are my opinion only.

1) Why does, according to subtitling, Min call Julian "brother" even after she knows he's not her brother?

Good question, I would think there would be various responses to this, and it'll be interesting to see them, but here is my take. Because the initial stages of contact (and the relationship that develops thereafter) between Julian and Min were established under the pretext of Julian pretending to be Min's brother, even after Min discovers who Julian really is she can't possibly "start over". What do I mean by starting over? Think about it, Min would have to get to know this whole other person, this impostor by the name of Julian, and not her "brother" figure that she has come to believe in. Julian, by creating this fabrication of "brotherly love" has reminded Min of her lost love for her real (and now deceased) brother. Min doesn't want that feeling to go, and so she hangs onto it. I also believe that Julian loves Min not as a lover, but as a sister. Min knows it, and Julian knows it, hence the long-awaited kiss never comes to bloom in the end. IndigBubb I guess that also answers your question.

2) Why doesn't Julian pay back the moustached man when he gets money from Min?

'Money can handle everything.' The standout line in Love Me Not. Julian learns that this statement is false. Throughout the beginning of the film, we as viewers are exposed to Julian's lack of love. He does not establish any emotional attachment with the women he comes into contact with, and simply seems them as a source of income. We also never have a chance to see into his childhood or his relationship with his parents, so we can assume when it comes to love, he did not believe it or finds little use for it. Now fast forward, as the days and nights pass and the relationship between him and Min develop, we see his barriers begin to crumble. His professional image turns soft, as he learns something called love. Now Julian could have paid all debts when he was given presumably millions by Min, but instead he gives it back to her. Why? Now this may seem cliche, but love has no cost. Julian finally realises this and uses his charm and the story of his ultimate "swindle" to get with more female clients. He then uses this money to fund Min's surgery, leaving his millions from Min untouched. Would you have the soul to steal money from your sister or someone you love? 'Love can handle everything.' Hey! Isn't that a more appropriate line?

sushinori, take a look also.

3) The ending... So they both die and "heaven" is a snowy land where it's not cold? What the hell..

Heaven/hell, is what you make of it.
