Do people like this?

I went to see this last week and it is the worst film I've ever seen, it has an average rating on here, do people actually enjoy this poo, it's not comedic enough to be a comedy, not horrorific enough to be a horror, at some points it tries to be a drama, but it fails miserably. Worst film ever.

This was a very good film. Not Sono's best, but still excellent. 9/10

It's really funny hearing that from somebody who thinks Indiana Jones (1/10 whole series) or the South Park movie are the top 10 best films.

Loved this film, it was utterly bizarre.

I think it deserves it's rating: it's a pretty darn average film. You get the Sono-philes who think everything that he churns out it gold, they you get the people who can't appreciate it for what it is (a rather campy, over-the-top but not bad movie). The rating finally settled into where it should be: the mediocre range.

You obviously have never seen a truly BAD film if you think this is the worst ever.

I find the premise a bit silly, but the execution was great. It was genuinely creepy - even more so for the Japanese who have a "thing" about hair.

The acting was a bit off, but I think those who really hate this movie watched the English-dubbed version, which is a HUGE mistake!

I didn't think it was that bad... 7/10.

This was not the worst movie ever, there are many movies much worse. And it is comedic horrorific and a drama all in one. Example, comedic, one word...Yamazaki. Horrorific, the hair attacking Mami's mom. And dramatic in the sense that Mami is a abused.
This movie was amazing if you ask me.

I am sorry but I could not see any comedy in this movie, yamazaki was a pathetic, mentally ill person his acts were not to mean comedy. And at the end boogy girl made a small puppet of remains of yamazakis body and made it dance. I am not sure if it was meant to be funny but I never laughed or smiled when watching.

I didn't think it was all that funny either. It's a pity that Sion Sono lost this opportunity to make a good film of the subject matter. He should have remembered that Chiaki was the star of the show & written & directed it so that her natural talent could shine through. I think she did the best she could do with an iffy script & direction. But the tragedy of this film was that Ren Osugi was allowed to ruin it with his hammy over-acting. He might be some big-shot comedian in Japan (I don't know - is he?) but in my opinion he was total rubbish in this.

Worst film ever.
Go watch "Kill Devil" (2004) or "Marronnier" (2004), then come back and apologize.

This movie has an awkward mix of drama, comedy, and horror. Those Christmas scenes were a bit unnerving, but it was the relationship between Chiaki Kuriyama and the little girl - as well as the general weirdness of the horror elements - that kept my attention. A fun watch, IMO.
