title question: 'Exte'

Might "Exte" be the English word "extra" taken into Japanese to indicate "extra hair" or "hair extensions"? If not, what is its significance?

It's a shortening of the word extensions. Might be a slang over there used in the hair biz or something.

It’s short for ‘extension’. In Japanese, foreign loanwords are very often shortened down to three or four syllables.
