Jon Lovitz makes sense when the said the comment "Just because I watch Laker Games for 20 years, doesn't qualify me to coach the team".
it does qualify you to state your opinion about how they're playing, however.
i don't think any of the critics were suggesting that they should be hired as coaches.

I don't think Lovitz was suggesting that the critics were suggesting they should be hired as writers/directors.
I think he was questioning the worth of their function.
