just caught this on showtime...

and although the storyline was lovely and sweet, I could not get over how AWFUL the acting was. It was so forced and fake, and that Bitty girl was the worst. How could you mess up a ditzy blonde? I would like to see this story re-done with better actors, then I could enjoy it more.

"well technically..i can never *sleep* with you."

I didn't mind the acting, but they certainly could have cleaned up the script....I mean when that little girl drops her ball in the pool at the yard sale.......please.......I saw Semper saving her before the ball even went into the water-before the little girl even got to the pool.

I agree the acting was pretty bad. I wonder if it's because they were trying to have southern accents since it was set in the south. The only reason I watched it was because I saw Phil Vassar was in it. He used to play every week at a local bar in Nashville we frequented. I was never a fan of his as a singer, and I was curious about his acting abilities.

As far as the plot goes, if you have a big house with an inground pool you should be able to afford to pay for a pet's surgery. I did miss the fist part of the movie, so maybe they were losing the house. Then there's always Carecredit, but then there wouldn't be a movie.

As close as Auburn is to Fayetteville, I would have dropped the dog off for 3 days and gone back to get him. But then they wouldn't have met George's sister and gotten the puppy.

Yes, I'm overanalyzing and it's just a movie. It's a nice "feel good" movie that I'm sure my daughter would have loved when she was small.

Lol. Sadly the accennts are not to blame - they were real. It was filmed in my hometown using locals with only a few people coming in from surrounding areas.

All was well.

So they got a bunch of locals, but not actors?

I saw mistakes/goofs too. There's one where the mom haggles something down to $10, she has 2 kids, the boy and the girl who falls in the pool. When everyone goes over to the pool to see what's up, she bends down slightly to grab the phantom hand of her "other" kid, but she's in the pool.

Acting seemed forced.

There were some actors that came from surrounding areas after a casting call.
But a lot of the actors were local, yes.

It was fun for the town, but it didn't make the best movie out. :) Lol

"There were some buildings. They could walk."

The house with the pool wasn't the Harrington's house. It belonged to Vivian, who mentions to the vet that the yard sale will be at her house.

Thanks for clearing that up, dm44. I knew I had missed part of it, and it clearly did not make sense that a family affluent enough to own an in-ground pool would be soliciting donations.

This brings up another point. I was annoyed with the lady who kept trying to bargain the price down. If it were a regular yard sale, that would be fine. However, when it is clearly a fund raiser that is just tacky. That would be like trying to bargain down the price of a box of Girl Scout Cookies.

Dont pick on Bitty, i thought she was gorgeous & entertaining! Vivian was sweet too, everyone should have a best friend like her!
