About the AMP'd mobile product placement.

This was written on channel 101 by Dan Harmon, one of the Acceptable TV guys.

"My Black Friend: I'm really proud of this script, but for a time, after making this, I thought, "Is this even funny to anyone? It's just a very realistic recreation of a reality show." Note the experimental product placement joke, which we did without the client's permission. I later walked a DVD of this short through the front doors of the Amp'd Mobile corporation, and showed it to the top people there. They flipped out and said "what can we do to get this show on the air?" I am still convinced that the promise of their advertising dollars is what got Acceptable TV picked up. It's a gross world, but that's the joke, so *beep* it."

So whenever you guys think, enough with Amp'd mobile stuff, just remember it got this show on the air.

I agree. Every Amp'd Mobile reference in a sketch has been really funny and well placed, and the company itself comes off as incredibly hip and good natured for allowing them to make these jokes from week to week. One of those rare instances when product placement really seems viable and mutually beneficial and not just crass, ugly and distracting.
