You know what I would really like...?

A place online where you can go to discuss a series (for example Breaking Bad) with people who have ONLY seen as much as you have.

For example.. I just finished Season 2. I'd love to chat about other people's opinions/guesses on where the story is headed. Like, man.. what's gonna happen next etc.

There should be some kind of place where specific message boards are assigned to people who are on a specific part of the Breaking Bad timeline.

If anybody can code that website.. that would be cool!

reply

Watch the whole thing, THEN discuss. That's what I do.

reply

That would be neat. I've been in your predicament a lot - just watched a season of a show and you want to talk to somebody about it, but you can't visit the message boards for fear of the titles. Nothing is as big a downer going into a message board and seeing one titled something like, "About Character's Death... (SPOILERS)" and you're thinking, "Yeah...spoilers..."

reply

Exactly!! Right??

I think there's a cool startup idea right there for somebody :D

reply

Hey, if I could program, I'd get on it...

reply

you need to find a new series to keep up with then, not binge an old one everyone has seen

reply

just start a thread called "for people only up to season2" or whatever.

There isnt really enough traffic for that though

reply

When I first started watching The Walking Dead it was an AMC marathon prior to the start of season 4.

I spent a lot of time on forums reading old posts "in real time" as I binged the show at about 2 episodes per day.

Although I wasn't actively participating in the old conversations, it was pretty cool to read the opinions and speculations of the other viewers as they saw it during the first airing.

*spoiler for The Walking Dead*

For example: during season 2 it was fun to read along with the speculation on what actually happened to Sofia and what Jenner whispered in Rick's ear at the end of season 1.

you seem to have pulled off what the OP wanted to do.

How did you determine which "old posts" to read that would correspond with where you were up to and not read any that would give you spoilers?

reply

I used to frequent AVSforum dot com back in the day. It's an Audio Video Science forum to discuss technical aspects of home theater equipment and the like.

It also has a section for discussing TV shows, supposedly to discuss video and audio quality. However, content is also discussed. Each show has a single thread (crazy, I know) that is in chronological order.

I simply started on page 1 and read through the discussion episode by episode until I caught up to where I was in the show. Then I would step away until I binged the next batch. I could tell by the dates on the posts when discussion of each new episode started in the thread, so I knew where to stop and where to pick up.

reply

haha , brilliant

I guess any movie chat type forum could add a filter that compared dates of posts with original air dates of episiodes , if they put their mind to it.
Although that would miss out posts from people who watched later

reply

I think it's even simpler than that. Just have an option to sort the board by original post date, rather than by most recent post in each thread.

reply

I agree with you! When you come late to the party it's hard to collaborate with others about where you are in the series.

It's very dangerous to come to these boards; You can't trust that everyone is going to use the *** spoiler *** tags.

I don't see an easy solution, but I understand your concern.

I'm trying to catch up on OZARK so that I can go participate in some discussions. It's just too risky before catching up.

reply

You can't trust that everyone is going to use the *** spoiler *** tags.

For a show that started airing more than a decade ago, you can be 100% certain no one is going to be using spoiler tags.

reply

I'm not even talking specifically about BREAKING BAD. Any show at any phase, you can't trust people to use Spoiler Alerts.

reply

Yes. In that case, I agree. If you're not caught up on any show, it's best not to visit discussion boards.

Also, in some special occasions, like season finales, I even avoid all social media in general until I've seen it.

reply

I know what you mean. I binged this and didn't talk to anyone about it until I was finished. Meanwhile, I started binging Star Wars: The Clone Wars and I'm only on season 2 and I really wanna talk about it.

reply

will never happen, and individual is too small a market
