Breaking bad or sopranos

I never watched sopranos.i loved BB if you loved BB did you also love sopranos.im trying to find a reason to watch what everyone says I need to watch

reply

I love them both but I think Sopranos is a more re-watchable show. Breaking Bad is more suspenseful watching the first time, but you lose that on second watch. There is more comedy in the Sopranos series I believe. The two best though in my opinion.

reply

I'm the other way around. Both shows are great, but Breaking Bad is much more rewatchable for me.

reply

I'm in your same shoes, I actually tried to watch the sopranos a few times but never got past episode 2. Cannot get hooked at all.

reply

The Sopranos is much better, imo.

By far my favourite two "box set" American shows.

The Sopranos feels.like the 'First' of the modern era and was ground breaking.

Breaking Bad feels like the 'Best' of the modern era, a kind of culmination of these long running serials.

The Sopranos is hugely entertaining, but can feel.almost soap opera ish when it slows down at points, but it's peaks are fab.

Breaking Bad is hugely entertaining, and is, to me, Really focused on its central story of Walt all the way through.

Breaking Bad is a 10/10 for me, Sopranos is a 9.9

Breaking Bad. The Mafia has been done a million times. No one had ever done the chemistry teacher gone bad before.

reply

Perhaps because no one wanted to. La Cosa Nostra spans centuries. A chemistry teacher . . . in the US, 21st century spans . . . what? Singular years? Call me in 20 years and tell me which series is the more remembered.

reply

That's a bit unfair. Both series have been phenomena and touchstones of television in their own right. I have absolutely no doubt that in 20 years, people will be remembering Breaking Bad as well as The Sopranos. The fact of the matter is that the subject matter for The Sopranos (the mafia) has been the subject matter for an inordinate number of films and TV shows and The Sopranos does fall into several (now) very common tropes with regards to storytelling and characters. The subject matter for Breaking Bad was something almost entirely new and, to be honest, it made the absolute most of what its admittedly meagre premise had to offer. So who cares if it canonically took place in the space of 2 years and lasted 5 seasons? It told a complete and compelling story and didn't waste a second of it (and yes, I'm one of the few who actually thought The Fly offered something worthwhile as an episode), which is much more satisfying than a show that runs for years and whose canon spans decades but is full of unnecessary episodes - and no, I'm not accusing The Sopranos of being an example of the latter, just pointing out that quantity=/=quality.

The Sopranos helped form the modern standard of serialised TV drama; Breaking Bad perfected it.

I LOVE SOPRANOS...BUT,BREAKING BAD EASILY..BREAKING BAD IS TOP 5 SHOWS ALL TIME FOR ME.I HAVE A WALTER WHITE STICKER ON MY CARS BACK WINDSHIELD AND 3 T SHIRTS RIGHT NOW.

Sopranos really started the quality T.V. trend however, and made a template for the antihero being the main character. Without the Sopranos, Breaking Bad would have never been made. Same with Nurse Jackie. BB was great as was The Sopranos. Just enjoy them for what they are.

reply

Sopranos is more of a soap opera.
