Why does everyone think Jesse was so innocent?

Everyone thinks Jesse is just a poor, innocent victim who Walt manipulated into committing a bunch of crimes. They both manipulated each other. Jesse pretty much made Walt kill Emilio, Krazy 8, Tuco, rival dealers, etc. And he convinced Walt to get back into the business several times when he was sure he was out. They both manipulated each other and treated each other like shit, but I guess people only noticed it when Walt did it, because he was much older. But they were still both adults who knew what they were doing, they were both utter pieces of shit and deserved to die.

Not to mention that he was more than willing to burn both Holly and Junior alive, sick f-cker. I'm glad he became Todd's meth bitch. Watching Andrea get her brains blown out gave me pleasure.

"Watching Andrea get her brains blown out gave me pleasure."

Seek for help and never reproduce.

reply

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Andrea, she seemed like a good person and a good mother. But if killing her caused Jesse pain then I would shoot her any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Rats need to be taught a lesson.

reply

So having her son grow up as an orphan is okay because you hate Jesse? It's one thing to want Jesse to be Todd's slave but wanting innocent women and children to be punished is messed up. By that logic it's okay for any of Walt's enemies to target his kids.

reply

No it's not OK to wish that on Walt's children because Walt never ratted.

reply

Jessy was a bitch who cried when a stranger got killed free Sharpe kid.plus Jessy made me sick when he allowed that Jane to manipulate him

reply

So you wouldn't mind a kid being shot to death in front of you?

reply

No not at all

reply

No one thinks Jesse is innocent. He was just a better human being than Walter is all.

That's right, AP.
Jesse started out as a pretty worthless low level street dealer that didn't seem to have much going for him. When he hooked up with Walt he got the daddy figure he needed, his confidence grew and he discovered he could really be good at something. But he also discovered he had a conscience and when he tried to be bad it just made him go crazy. He couldn't live with himself. He couldn't accept the things that Walt and the others took for granted.

Walt, on the other hand, started out as a wimpy kind of guy; brilliant but never living up to his potential. The cancer gave him license to cut lose and he got the power and the glory he'd always hungered for...and he didn't care what it cost.
Walt lost his conscience, his sense of right and wrong... and Jesse found his.
It doesn't make Jesse innocent. It just redeems him.

reply

I couldn't have said it better myself, bohemianroxie, and I found that to be one of the most interesting aspects of the show: As Walter loses his conscience, Jesse regains his. Neither character is without fault, but where Walter descends, Jesse grows.

reply

Jesse became a pretty annoying, self-righteous character

They decided to make him the redeemable good guy and that ruined his character IMO. It just becomes annoying watching him whine and self destruct just because he had to get his hands dirty. Um, you're a manufacturer and dealer of meth. didn't you know going in that that business is full of cold blooded murderers? yes, you did

the series overall is a masterpiece and maybe the best show ever, but Jesse could have been written better IMO.
