Overall, I was disappointed.

I thought this movie was going to be about the Beach Boys, but It was just about Brain Wilson's mental breakdown, and how he was getting screwed over by the parasites, and others riding on his coat tails. 90 minutes of mental problems got a little tiring.

He talks about his strict father, and his father seems like a jerk who still holds a grudge for his own son firing him, but you never really see any of that happen.

This movie is as much about Cadillac as it is about the Beach Boys.

Every now and then VH1 shows some made for TV movie about the Beach Boys. I liked that better than Love & Mercy

Well the title isn't "The Beach Boys" is it? "Love and Mercy" is a Brian Wilson song.

I did not realize that when I saw the movie, but even so, The movie did gloss over his life with the Beach Boys, and especially his father. There was just a brief scene acknowledging that Murray sold the rights to all the Beach Boys songs.

Read the description. It gives no indication that this is a Beach Boys movie.
