Best performance in the film: Elizabeth Banks

Yea or nay?

The BEST scene with Melinda Ledbetter & Doctor Landy occurred when Landy was RAGING outside of Melinda's office at the car dealership. And soon as Melinda came out of her office WITHOUT saying a word, Landy FOLDED!! :)

I love that scene, too!

If you look at her body of work and all the roles she has had most would conclude that she is a fine actress but somewhat underappreciated. I have always liked Banks, it is good that she is getting some credit.

And yes, that scene where she comes out of her office and silently confronts Landa is probably the most enjoyable scene in the movie.

Yay! I just watched the film and camne on the board to start an 'Elizabeth Banks was great' thread. You beat me to it.

She's second best for me after Paul Dano. It was great work from Elizabeth who is quite an underrated actress. Nice to see her getting some critics awards too.

Agreed, Dano was excellent, he had a meaty role and made the most of it! Banks was good, but didn't bring the depth of real feeling that Dano did, although to be fair Banks was playing a character who kept up a civilized front, and Dano played someone who didn't know how to hide his feelings.

Good movie.

Yea x 10. She was extraordinary. At the beginning, her main job is to react to what she's hearing from Brian. A lesser actress would have made this boring almost to the point of the character being non-existent, but Elizabeth made Melinda engaging. And then when the drama picks up, she just shines. Quite frankly, the role and how well it was played was pivotal to the movie. So, Elizabeth really made the movie.
