As good as the original ?

No chance seeing all the swearing kept in the US version right ?

I'm usualy not fond of swearing for the sake of it (ahem Tarantino ahem) but I have to say that in the UK version it was almost poetry !

" - It's a bucket of shi_t, if someone throws shi_t at us we throw shi_t back, they can't say shi_t, they can't throw shi_t, they can't do shi_t.
- That's top swearing ! Watch and learn, watch and learn."

With you totally- the other show that turend swearing into poetry is Larry Sanders which is a US show.

Agreed. Swearing doesn't necessarily make a comedy funnier but it was brilliant in the UK version and you could really imagine politicians swearing like that when things go wrong.

To answer the thread question, I don't think the US version will be as good for the simple reason that most US re-makes don't come close to UK versions. This will probably be another poor attempt by America to re-produce a quality British show.

Having said that, I will give it a chance.

There's no way that any US version of this show can be as good as the original for one reason:

US censorship would NEVER allow the tyrannical rants of Malcolm/Jamie characters which (by offsetting the proper British protocol of the other characters) make this show what it is!

Any US made version of this show will end up looking like "Spin City" which would be a tragedy.

I was all for NBC making a US version of the Office since Steve and Ricky left fans wanting so much more.. at least that show (done right) could be adapted successfully.

They should leave this one alone as all they are really going to adapt is the shows title!

You are right about Arrested Development. I'll now look for anything Hurwitz
is connected with.

Why do you Americans have such a strict censorship? I think it's a shame. Over here in the UK after 9 PM shows can include almost pretty much anything.

Simple, "god squad".

But, you know, hbo and the like have plenty of effing swearing in their effing shows, just watch c'ing Curb for effs sake. Nothing personal :)
