Major goof: nobody wears Speedos in America

The fact that the American kid was wearing a Speedo belongs in the Goofs section. The director is French so I guess that's why they put the kid in a Speedo but in real life no American would ever wear one. Occasionally Europeans are spotted on American beaches in one of those banana hammocks and laughter, ridicule, and nausea always ensues.

It was not a goof. Tom was a obviusly swimmer or was playing at being one: he had swimming goggles on. Male swimmers, both boys and adults, wear Speedos. I have seen plenty of boys and men wearing Speedos at pools and beaches in Florida, California, New York, or Hawaii. Have you ever try to actually swim wearing board shorts?

About your unnecessary comment about Europeans being ridiculed and causing nausea at American beaches for wearing Speedos, it only shows your prejudices and fears. Probably you are afraid of what you see. Please do not waste time with ignorant, narrow-minded personal comments since nobody really cares what you feel when you see a a man's bulge.

reply

Dude, it is gross.

I will call myself neutral to cultural considerations and judgments thereof, but wearing such a thing would be unusual in North America - North of the border. There were a few mistakes of this nature, but the film was still well worth a view.

Ok wait first of all the kid wasn't trying to be a professional swimmer! Lol that's so dumb. He was wearing goggles, so what? So does every little kid when in the pool. Anyone with a pool in America has a few pair of goggles like that for people to wear. Especially little kids because they want to be able to open their eyes underwater when the play.
And I'm sorry to say you are very wrong about seeing Americans wearing speedos. I don't know where you're seeing them, maybe in a high tourist area of people visiting from other countries but honestly, American men and boys DO NOT WEAR SPEEDO BATHING SUITS
I'm not saying it to get you angry, it's just a fact.
And I know the guy made you angry but the it is the truth that when we go to the beach and we see men wearing speedos, we all laugh. Almost no one looks good in a speedo suit. Do professional divers and swimmers look good? Yea I guess, but that's because they're in great shape. But 90% of the time speedos look horrible and no self respecting American man would be caught dead in one. And boys and teenagers would rather die first.
And the funniest thing you said was "Have you ever tried swimming with board shorts?"
Well, yes. EVERY American male has tried it. And they do it everyday at beaches and swimming pools! Lol

reply

yes I know a Dutchmen who was asked not to wear Speedos by colleagues when he was on a business trip to America (they had all gone swimming at some point). They told him that Speedos were warn by competitive swimmers and otherwise only by gay men. He wasn't gay, but is that not homophobic in some way?

reply

As far as I'm concerned, guys should wear whatever they want. If other people want to think you're gay for wearing a Speedo, let them think so. American society is far, far too puritanical anyway.

reply

As far as realism goes, the only thing that I object to is the HUGE bathroom in the motel.

"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."

reply

Nope youre wrong
His grandfather is raising him
his grandfather is NOT american
His grandfather would have an influence on what the kid wears
simple

12 years later, people in the US still aren't wearing Speedos at the beach.
