My fav of the three

Picking my fav of these 3 films is like picking whether I like getting punched in the face, punched in the groin, or kicked in the groin more. And they are in that order. I think at least it feels like it retains the spirit of the book more than the other two do. Which isn't saying much. Smaug was probly the only enjoyable scene in the second one. But I think Gollums scenes in this one are still better and more faithful. There was almost NOTHING in the third one I enjoyed.

probably yes.

takes a bit too long until it gets going, but then it is ok mostly.

part 2 and 3 are weaker, maybe because of the excessive GCI crapfest Peter Jackson threw at us later.

The second was probably my favorite, in that it's slightly preferable to a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

The third is so bad I'd definitely take the stick, the first, I'd have to think about it.

Five Armies is quite a bit better than Desolation for me. The acorn scene and Thorin's death were great, it had the heart of the series much more than Desolation did.

I love An Unexpected Journey, definitely the best of the three.

I feel the same way.

I would also list this one as my favorite of the three. For some reason, I just loved this one the most.

My favourite by a margin is AUJ
Tho i Still really enjoy Desolation and thought Five armies(even with all its flaws) was fine the magic excitement I get while watching the LOTR trilogy was only found in the first hobbit
Also AUJ delivered me what I wanted personally and expected out of a hobbit adaption, a Return to Jacksons beautiful Middle earth while also telling a smaller more personal story about and adventurous quest and not chaotic war and deep life dilemmas like the LOTR trilogy

I like An Unexpected Journey the most. The reason why is that it's almost matches the tone of the book. Battle of the Five Armies is right behind it. I loved the acorn scene and the deaths of some of the main characters made me tear up. Desolation of Smaug was the weakest in the trilogy.
