Possibly Corey Feldman was playing himself when he use to be on drugs back when he was a major star. He was big back during the 80's and early 90's until his drug problem screwed up his career in the movie business.

For starters it seems that feildman's character was, at least before, being sweetand caring to Caroline only to gradually become a douche... so she may be thinking he isn't all bad an making excuses for him, after all he can comtrol himself in front of her and she doesn't know about the other girls, after all she is young, naive, easily manipulated, as well as impressed easily. Especially if he was sweet to her at the beginning of the "relationship."
