After watching this movie last night. The whole family of John David Finn was bad. The Mother, Uncle and he himself. John picked up girls in Airports. His mother didn't think they were good enough for him. When they tried to leave, they were murdered. It was the Mother's idea to pour acid on their bodies, so they don't get recognized. However this Mother also brought home the Police files, which were confidential. The whole family was BAD! BAD! BAD! and BAD!

The uncle wasn't that bad. He seemed to have a moral compass. He obviously was threatened. In the scene where they moved he showed compassion for Colleen. And he looked forced into the things he had to do. He feared his own life.

I do remember "Based on a true story" at the start. And that's sad.
IF this is based on actual events, then the names must have been changed. There is no news, police or internet info on any serial killer named John David Finn.

I do not know if it is true or not, but the mother was a REAL witch!! I was so glad at the end when they nailed all of them. The son was a security guard, picked the girls up at bus stations, they were runaways.

i stoped watching after an hour but that whole family was EVIL but the uncle had some guilt in him
shareYou are right, the whole family was evil including the uncle. Uncle Gerry is a puppet for the son and mother. The best part is the ending. It is one I can watch over again! The working chemistry between the detectives is awesome.
I am currently reading Mama's Boy by Richard Pienciak an account of Eric Napoletano's murders (and the basis for the movie The Bad Son). The real life mother ,"play uncle" and of course Eric, the killer himself were distrubed and dangerous people. I highly recommend the book -one of the better true crimes books I have read (and I have read many).
