Michael Palin + Eric Idle, please.

If one were to give this movie the Monty Python treatment, it would have been brilliant. As it was, it turned out to be a bit too monotonous. The storytelling aspect slowed the pace and never let it achieve any sort of momentum. The frequent breaks in the story, cutting back and forth to the testimony and to the story never allowed any real development of the characters which left the audience uninvested in their plight or escapades.
The run-of-the-mill approach to each of the corpses denied the audience any thrills or laughs where there should have been plenty. but if the narration and the characters seem less than enthusiastic, it leaves the audience feeling the same way.
I just never felt invested in this movie nor it's characters. The story was fun and unique, but the execution of it was lifeless.
Sad but true.

Monty Python doesn't quite blow... but it *is* an acquired taste and a lot of it belongs to a certain generation, so is now somewhat irrelevant to today's culture.

Either you get it or you don't.

Certain jokes (ie, the ones everyone keeps quoting) were obviously right on the money. The ones quoted less often but that everyone still knows are the more cult culture parts.
The rest was either just stuff that only the true fan would love, or simply not funny.

And I say this as a British person, who is supposed to love this stuff.
I sing the Holy Grail songs, I make the jokes and they are as much a part of my culture as "I'd buy that for a dollar" is in RoboCop.
But I'm just not that big into Python.
