Right on! John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th President at noon on January 20, 1961.

July 15, 1960 was the day he gave "The New Frontier" Acceptance Speech. Which is the speech featured in the film.

Also, in the comic book, New Frontier takes place over many years. About 70% of the material was cut out. If this movie was 2 hours long maybe it might have made a bit more sense.

I wonder about this. I thought this was uneven from the start, but it seemed like it might be OK for a while, then it just all fell apart. In hindsight it felt like a lot was missing. They just sort of jumped to the end.
