Bored within 10min,BrainDead within 20min

Luckily i saved the rest of my brain by not watching the whole movie, good movies are not made by big budgets and special effects, simply good directing & acting does the trick, something seriously lacking in this movie.Giving good scores to bad movies DON`T make them better, I watched `Shifty`` last night,a movie with a similiar topic & half the budget of this one, it´s not perfect, but it is a Gem nonetheless,in comparrison to this wannabe of a movie, like anything in life taste determines your quality of life, for some Mac.D´s taste heavenly, for others it resembles cardboard & free radicals, this is the case with movies too. .Do yourself a favour & watch Shifty & learn to appreciate Quality and evolve,or stay delusional and keep on rating terrible movies as perfect.Choice is yours

Oh, my! It would seem we have a genuine "cineaste" on our hands, everyone! But as such, I'm genuinely surprised you've apparently either forgotten or never learned one of the cardinal rules of film discussion--that being indictments of a film made without having even bothered to finish said film are rarely, if ever, taken seriously. I mean, it's the sort of thing one would expect from the fourteen-year-old who decides to try out Cries and Whispers. Rather amateur, if I may be so bold. On a side note your grammatical prowess is matched only by your utter originality. That McDonald's line--innovative stuff! Onward, little trailblazer!

Movies are entertainment, not torture, if sheeple like U enjoy sitting through wannabe movies like this,go right ahead...

reply

Ah, yes. Because sheeple everywhere own Herzog, Cassavetes, and Takeshi Kitano boxsets. I guess I'd better resign myself to my dorky philistine fate and stop off for a "delicious" Wendy's frosty on my way to Big Lots tonight. Your comment is rich in irony, btw, considering that your "movies purely as entertainment" stance is far more aligned with a traditional "sheeple" point of view than what you purport of myself. Waaait a minute--you're *beep* with me, right? I mean, that has to be it. Nobody is this dense.

riddle me this ,what did u score this movie out of 10

Bad as in bad meaning good? Yeah, that's dope!

This movie is great in its own little way. If you don't like scenes of graphic violence maybe you shouldn't force yourself to sit through them?

Violence doesn't make a film bad. Deriding this – or any film – with hackneyed old clichés – “it’s full of stereotypes” and bad dialogue is the easy way of saying it doesn’t fit your personal expectations, therefore it’s bad.

Personally, I loved this movie but I’m not going to waste time trying to convince anybody otherwise when they think graphic scenes are placed in films of this ilk solely for the purpose of titillation. In the context of this film it’s clear you misunderstood its representation of a harsh vision of existence and commentary on the severity and sadness of a real situation. It wasn’t made to entertain in the way we expect conventional mainstream cinema to amuse. It’s supposed to be ugly and uncomfortable.

You say movies are entertainment, not torture. Wrong. Movies are entertainment for you. Others among us are seeking something else other than throwaway popcorn fare that does the thinking for you instead of allowing you to assimilate a little danger and encouraging you to look at things from a different perspective, which in some cases means examining aspects of our world or ourselves that are downright difficult to deal with.

You talk of sheeple not realising you're at the core of that demographic. Get a grip, and if it's too upsetting, stick with mainstream guff for your "entertainment".

Yeah this movie pretty sucks...

The first scene is a very graphic rape scene. The most graphic rape scene since Irreversible and you say it was boring? Are you desensitized or felt the scene wasn't hard enough?

U don't have to be just sheep!" Evolve!!!!

reply

So you were bored or unaffected by the rape scene within the film's first 10 minutes.

this movie is horrible, it's a very poor man's CRASH, everybody is so stereotypical, and the dialogue is dreadful. I really don't know how this many name actors got into this movie, no wonder it never got a theatrical bow. there are two real graphic scenes and they are just that graphic. Bad, bad film.

I don't get what the OP is talking about either. The first 10 min of the movie we watch as this beautiful young girl is raped by not one guy but gang raped! You must really be a creep with not a sensitive bone in his body to get bored with such a scene as that. It captured my attention right away.

It's premature and idiotic to rate a movie you admit to watching only 20 min. of. This would mean that you weren't even introduced to the rest of the characters and have no idea where the film was headed as far as plot. You're so quick to rush to criticism, I doubt you could come with a clear headed review of this film. I've always been told to "not judge a book by it's cover" and any wise man knows it's better to listen to the whole matter (or in this case, watch the whole film) before rushing to negatively review something you know nothing about. It really makes you look foolish.

Anyway, it's your opinion the movie sucked. Not everyone is so quick to jump to conclusions the first quarter of a movie then calling the people who actually had THE NERVE to finish it (and thought it was a great adaptation of life in some ghettoes) "sheep". Grow up.

Here, here. This film has enough names yet it obviously didn't do *beep* in the domestic box office, if it was domestically released at all (never hearing of the distributors isn't really a good sign either).

I believe the reason for this film's failure is everything you said, plus the ending killed what little theatrical aspirations the producers had for this film. It was choppy and rushed. Everyone from Robert McKee to Roger Ebert said the first 3/4 of a film can be flawed, but if you wow them in the end you have a winner.

I don't know. Looked like it had potential to go far. Scary business, this movie making thing of ours.
