Wouldn't a double wedding been the solution to their problems

They basically force their friends to choose between the two of them. And then since it was a double wedding and their friends didn't have to choose between the two of them, then it would've been a lot simpler to get their friends to be their respective Maids of Honor.

That is suggested in the movie, but one of the characters (Emma I think) says something along the lines of "I've shared everything with her my whole life. I'd really like to have something that's just mine," therefore nixing the double-wedding idea.

Plus the fact that...there wouldn't be a premise for a movie if they did that lol.

Well Emma should have realized that she's not going to get everything she wants, pull her big girl panties up and adapt to the situation.

The problem is that she never GOT anything she wanted. All she ever REALLY wanted out of life was that one day where she was the only one everyone was watching. It's not uncommon, and it's completely understandable. I mean, seriously. If you lived most of your life in someone else's shadow, wouldn't you want at least that one day where you stepped out of that shadow?

If you don't like it, you don't have to read it.

So she was willing to jeopardize her relationship with her best friend and her fiance just so she could be the center of attention for one day?

I realize I'm a guy and have never dreamed about having a perfect wedding, but why are women excused from using logic or common sense when it comes to planning their wedding?

And then, as it turns out, she dumps her fiance at said wedding. Are you telling me she was so invested in the wedding she didn't realize she wasn't even in love with the guy? Doesn't that make her look like a total retard?

The entire premise of this movie is stupid and could have been solved with a double wedding, but because Hathaway's character wanted to be a stubborn child she ends up alienating her best friend and fiance. And in what universe is a place booked 3 years straight? How the hell did Hudson and Hathaway even get an opening so soon in the first place if it was booked up for 3 straight years? Contrived much?

This would have worked a little better had they just been enemies. Oh wait, no it wouldn't have, as seen in You Again.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

I don't think her choosing not to do a double wedding is what jeopardized her friendship, I think it was the fact that both of them were so stubborn that neither one would change their date/venue. I don't know many women who would be willing to share their wedding day with another bride. I guess to a guy it doesn't make sense, but most women imagine their weddings since they're little girls. They want all eyes on them and their new husband, they want the flowers, dresses, music, food, etc that they've dreamed of, they don't want to worry about coordinating it all with another bride, even if the other bride is her best friend/sister/cousin/etc.

I agree with you that women should not be excused for being complete psychos while planning their weddings. These women had no logic, otherwise one would've changed her date/venue. The most important part of a wedding day is that you'll be married to the person you love, the rest is just decoration, most brides don't realize or care about that though.

I know many people who have gone through the wedding planning process and weren't in love with their fiance. Some broke it off before the wedding, others got divorced down the line, it's very common. A lot of people stay in relationships without love because they've been in them for so long and it's comfortable/they don't know anything else. I'd guess there's a huge percentage of women who say yes to the ring and start planning the wedding without giving a thought to their marriage, and that's sad. Watch any TLC show and you see how little a lot of the brides care about their fiances or marriages--it's all about the wedding.

Honestly, I don't think Emma was being a stubborn child for not wanting a double wedding, like I said, most women alive wouldn't go for that. However she, and Liv, were stubborn children for not finding a compromise like finding new dates/venues/booking for the opening in 3 years/etc. But it's a movie, had they used their heads it would've been 15 mins long!

Kate Hudson has bad BO. Anne didn't want Kate's revolting stink to infect her on her wedding day. You just can't get that kind of stench out with dry cleaning.

Duh!

The solution: I would've had my wedding "three years from now". Remember Marion St. Claire said that the next available June date was three years later? I would've taken it! I mean, what's the rush? That would've given Emma 3 years to plan the perfect wedding. And who knows, by then, she probably would've found out that Fletcher wasn't The One anyway.

All that fighting for nothing. Emma and Fletcher ended up breaking up anyway. I would've just let Liv take that June 6th date, and I would've taken the other June date 3 years later.

Bottom line: pretty dumb movie. But I love it!! It's my guilty pleasure.

Forget it, I would've just had my wedding at a different venue. The plaza isn't the only nice venue where they live.

That's what the grooms suggested. But they each wanted their OWN special day.

No woman wants someone else to have the attention during their own wedding.
