Why do you think the husband gave her a ride to prison the last time she went to see him?
Was it out of guilt? Or did he think it would bring closure for both his wife and the inmate?
Also an interesting thought, flashback when the husband said, "If you go, I don't know what'll I'll do. You want to see me go crazy?" Then fast forward to the news when the news reporter talks about Jang Jin killing his wife and two daughters. Just thought I might share.
yeah, that is CLASSIC Kim Ki-Duk!! it would be a Ki-Duk film if the husband didn't drive her to the prison for the closure. that's his sacrifice, his penance and his new found dedication to his wife, the fruit of the realisation of his (maybe now unconditional) love for her
and the flashback part, another typical KKD element. explanations are taboo but he'll lead you towards some... eventhough he'll leave enough space for doubt.
