Is this going to be another one of those films?

Where the French and the Germans speak English but in their respective accents? Eaux.

...despite this, I'm still looking forward to the film lol.

Was wondering the same thing... I thought those days were gone...

I NEVER EVER EVER understand comments like this.

If you make a film set in France you could make it in French,French and German or English.
A film in French and German might make sense if it is a French financed film aimed at a mainly French speaking audience.

But if you want an international impact you make the film in English so more people might think about paying to see it.

I am happy to watch foreign films with subtitles but I don't like the superior attitude of people who expect 3 or 4 different languages in one film.

The simple answer is no.

I have no problem with subtitles and quite often prefer them (Run Lola Run being one example where the English dubbing made the film unwatchable so I switched to the german audio and subtitles) but I think they made the right choice here.

The "French" speak English quite deliberately so you can understand the social hierarchy which would be lost (at least to me) with subtitles alone. The Germans german with subtitles.

I think all the 'French' aside from Lambert Wilson as the poor Vicomte, were English.

Although I actually would have preferred a full French cast as the French (although Kristin S-T would have been fine because her French is excellent), I did not have too much of a problem "adapting" to the French being played by Brits (except Michelle W speaking with a pretty good Brit accent), who also depending on the social status of their character spoke with an upper class or "lower" class accent.
