Since the first movie was about Barry Watson's character, his Boogeyman and his own fear which feeds/creates it, there would be no point in any of the original cast returning because that Boogeyman was destroyed.

This is another Boogeyman, born of another persons fear, and thus it'll be different and manifest differently.

I have thought too much about this.
