A Question for those who liked this film....(SPOILER)

Would you enjoy Nightmare on Elm Street 2 if in that film Freddie Kruger ended up being just a mentally disturbed teenager wearing a mask? I seriously doubt it.

That's how fans of the first film feel about this one.

I like slasher films too but the first Boogeyman had an enjoyable supernatural plot line that was totally ignored in the sequel. They made a big mistake in the direction they took this franchise. If there is a third one, they need to get back on track with the original storyline that was popular and enjoyable enough in the first place to even warrant a sequel.

To tell you the truth, I found the mythology/supernatural plot of the first movie so underdeveloped, that I can actually understand why the filmakers just ignored it.
I'm not saying I found this movie "good", but, at a pure guilty pleasure level, I thought it was more enjoyable than the first.

I may be wrong, but I think that the majority of the people who enjoyed this movie, like me, hated the original. Those who like the original would not like this one.

That being said, comparing Boogeyman to the original Nightmare on Elm Street is laughable. To me, thats the difference. Elm Street was a great movie, Kruger was a kind of break out character so they'd be crazy to stray from the original concept. Boogeyman wasn't a great movie and I don't think it did well so why not try a different direction.

I completely agree with you, StupidGroundhog. Although I didn't hate the original Boogeyman, I found the second a lot more enjoyable. And you can't compare a killer such as Henry, to that of Kruger.

I really liked both this film and the first one--both are 9s for me (I haven't seen the third yet, but I will tomorrow). The reason they took this one in a very different direction is because the first film has a large number of very animated, very vocal haters.

The-the-the first one had fans!?

Well honestly i think the first one was barely ok, i remember i was like "ok that wasen't completely crap but that wasn't very good" After watching it that was like one of those movie you just say "ok i saw it, thats it" and don't keep a memorable memories of it.

Im a fan of Slasher and i think this one is a pretty good one, where the killer do have a reason to kill, instead of a dumb *beep* like some movies, the kills are original and enought gory(a big point, tired of these slasher where its all knife kill) and the suspense is there for some part of the movie when you don't know yet its not a supernatual entity.

Honestly as a slasher i think this movie deliver very well. And the way they put 2 in the title is only because its link to the Boogeyman in a way. Friday the 14 did it with part 5. That one was crap but not because it wasen't really Jason, just because the kills where all the same(a pair of hands with an Axe coming in first person from the victim eyes) and there was nothing interesting at all.

And they didn't change that much, i mean Boogeyman kill in the first one, so yeah here its a real human but its a similar thing. I saw worst sequel when it come to not followng source material(Halloween 3)

This ISN'T Nightmare on Elm Street, though. It was a great film that didn't need to copy Freddy Kreuger.

I'm a fan of the first cause of the supernatural plot, but was let down by this one being just your cliche slasher.

A boat that floats on water can also sink in it.

I completely get what you are saying with the comparisons. Especially as this movie reminds me a mix of Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and "Bad Dreams".

Here I was thinking it was going to have the Boogeyman, but then turns out it just to be some psycho who was made crazy by a psychiatrist.

Could have been so much better, but sadly they screwed it up.

And I did not really think the first movie was scary, but this one just really sucked. My 13yo got up half way and walked out. That is how unscary a teen girl found it.
