Worst. Ending. Ever.

It wasn't terrible... until it had the worst final 10 minutes (give or take) in film history.

reply

yeah, the ending is really bad...it's like the director couldn't find an interesting way to end the story so he just had the ghost explode...and both Famke and Bobby seemed to suddenly over-emote in the ending scenes. Really ruins the movie imo. They need to reshoot it or edit it down.

If two people thought the same thing, and we did, than it must have been REALLY obvious, just bad acting there. Before that whole basement/fire scene it was not bad though.

Yeah i agree that last scene sucked the scene where the ghost beats the young guy to death is awesome.

reply

I can't believe I watched this garbage all the way to the very end. I was hoping some holes in the plot might be answered. It could have been a decent psychological thriller but it went towards the deep end with the exploding ghost.

Coming from someone who liked "Fido" in comparison to this movie, I think I'll pass on reading your future posts.

reply

Fido is awesome.

i watched the scene where ed westwick is killed with wide eyes.
partly because ed westwick pretty much is unbelievably sexy & him dying is sad. D:
and partly because of how completely disgusting & makes me shiver.
with all the bone cracking in the wrong directions, and he's screaming, and his jaw is like dislocated or something.
it's awful.
but actually i'm writing this as i finish watching.
so...the cop is searching her bedroom.
so whatever actual ending your talking about, i've yet to see it.
OH MY. he's falling from the ceiling.
and she's probably going to jail,
never mind. now the dead husband's attacking again.
figures.
sorry. i'm done ranting.
but still. wah. ed dies. =/

What do you expect from a low budget film?

reply

the problems with the ending could easily have been fixed with the same budget
in fact it's not really that low budget anyway it had 10 million $ which is the same as some studio horror films.

reply

i have to say- the film looks like it had a lower budget than $10 million. it looks kinda cheap in some parts

reply

i expect something fun. At least. This movie was terrible, and I like most movies I see!

Good writing?

reply

I though the movie was good, kind of slow but still good and the ending sucked yes.

reply

Actually the whole movie was terrible and cliched.

Actually the whole movie was terrible and cliched.

I hope you don't mean that... Because if you do it really hurts my feelings

I thought there were some good elements:

parts of Famke Janssen's performance were very good
the set design was very good

I really think this film suffered from some poor directing and choices. Red really needed to trim the ending and reign Famke's performance in a bit. Plus, the ghost effects were terrrrrible

Am I the only one who didn't think the ending sucked. It was the best, but I liked it. There are a LOT of movies out there with far, FAR worse endings. Like The Mist (excellent movie HORRIBLE ending). And the original The Blob (1958). There are many more, but that's all that comes to mind for the moment.

as i said to my friend about two-thirds of the way through the movie -- quite possibly the WORST movie i have ever seen!!

Well I was entertained most of the film I mean Famke is not hard to look at and not to mention Ed is gorgeous but I do totally agree the ending was crap and I think the film could be alot better if they reshot it(the end) cause honestly the end is not worth watching the movie for.

Oh and yeah killing Ed's character not cool :(

reply

I wanted to watch this movie only because Ed was in so I watched it with some friends yesterday because I can't stand horror movies. Until the middle of the film we were all scared and hypnotized by Ed's sexiness but when it came to his death by the ghost it was like the worst thing I've ever seen. It was ridiculous and that's the way it went till the ending.

reply

The ending was not that bad. If you are married you can relate to how it was sort of funny how it ended.

reply

I watched this and didnt know it was Michael Pare'....I love him! Of course I did miss like the first 5 minutes but no way could I tell by the CGI.

I agree, I was so dissapointed when her lover died. -_-

One of the things I found completely ridiculous was that with all that was happening to her, and around her, boyfriend being slaughtered, hubby on a rampage, she decided she needed to remove the electronic tag, as if anyone would give THAT a second thought. And why the hell would she run around the basement and even out into the street, risking her freedom (ignoring the ghost for a moment!), and yet couldn't answer her own front door?

As for the notion that her basement was 100 feet away from the box, that was equally ludicrous, unless she lived in a mineshaft. Once she was at the bottom of the stairs, moving toward the back of the basement, she would have been getting CLOSER to the box, not further away.

I watched this on the basis of the glowing reviews on the IMDB, which I am convinced were submitted either by people who are scared at the sight of their own shadow, or (more likely) the director of this tripe, under several pseudonyms!

Pity, because the special effects weren't bad.. just a shame the writing was abysmal, and the plot holes large enough to drive a bus through...!

I thought it was gonna end with the cop being killed in the house and for her to go on the run once the other cops arrived assuming that she committed both murders. That would have been a better ending I think.

reply

I didnt think this was a bad film - but the ending was very weak.

Other than that, it actually kept my attention from start to finish. I agree that the scene where the kid gets murdered was very well done, quite gruesome.

reply

1st off, HOLY CRAP!!! Why is registering to post on imdb so difficult?
2nd- This movie was a good movie but that ending was rediculous. And to the person who said Mist was worse than this, you are a fool. Mist had a bad ending but on completely different level, it was just sad, this was just HORRIBLE!!! They cud have blown up the house for no apparent reason & it would have been better than what they did.

reply

I agree, the ending was laughable. Why was the ghost husband sad about her taking off the ring after trying to kill her throughout the movie. And yeah, about the ankle monitor, why does she stop and take it off, like that is going to help with anything. And what is up with all the dramatic slo-mos's.

My boyfriend was saying how when she was throwing out his possessions thinking that the things he owned were keeping him there and since that wasn't really working maybe it was because the husband thought her owned her. The husband's whole motivation was just in being a control freak who thought he owned his wife and when she took off the wedding ring, I guess he finally got it through his head that it was truly over. I think that men who beat up on their wives do it to have power and control over their wife or girlfriend.

I liked the movie. It was alright. Not bad story but the ending with the way the husband went felt too much like a "Charmed" moment. And I like Charmed but the way he blew up was melodramatic. It didn't seem to fit or something.

some of the problems were due to the ending being reshot WITHOUT Famke Janssen though (she wasn't availalbe). I can't imagine the original ending being any worse.

I like the suggestion of the ghost killing the cop and then everyone else assuming that Marnie did it. It would be a bittersweet ending...she'd go to jail, but she would no longer be stuck with the ghost (plus it would add another kill)

A control freak would not think "Oh my, she threw at me her wedding ring, it must be over!". A control freak would be mad at her for that. Because nobody dumps a cotrol freak, the relationship is over when he, freak, says it's over. Real abusive husbands go ape$hit, when their wives want to leave them. That's why this ending sucks, bezause the ghostly dude, who was behaving through the movie like a sadistic, brutal, controlling psychopath, then, out the blue, turned into Mr. Meek. Okay darling, as you said, your wish is my command, I'm packing my ectoplasma and I'm back to hell. You threw your ring at me so it must be over, oh yes.

Another thing, what it was suposed to mean, all that stuff with the ring? That a husband owns his wife? Or, I don't know, Marnie thought that she was owned by him? Not even mentioning that the idea of an abused, batterd wife, who killed her husband in self-defence and doesn't seem to regret it, still wearing her wedding ring, and being unable to get rid of it is just plain ridiculous.

reply

Agree. I was finding it an average below average horror flick, you know kinda boring but watchable, but them POW it becomes completely off the rail ridiculous for the last 15 minutes.

reply

It was alright for me except for the wedding ring thing. Realistically speaking, after all that happened, I would have thought that she would have gotten rid of that already.
