It's really not a love story...

Love Happens is really not a love story in my opinion. It's a loss story. A grief story. It's about dealing with the love and loss of someone whether to death, divorce, abandonment, whatever situation. I appreciate this since I lost my dad three years ago.

I am surprised that so many people hate this movie. I thought it was beautiful to look at, especially the flowers and the scenes of Seattle. It wasn't the best movie I've seen in recent weeks. Inglourious Basterds wins that title. Nor was it the worst movie I've seen in recent weeks. All About Steve and The Informant! are the kings there. It was an enjoyable way for me to spend an afternoon.

I suppose I just identified with it on a deeper level. I would recommend it to anyone who has suffered a loss.

I've suffered a loss too, butI didn't think the movie was that compelling.

I love what you are, what you do, how you try. L/P, S/B

That's what I exactly thought - that it is not a love story in a romance movie, like the title indicates. I think Burke's self-healing, more or less, through others is the whole point of the movie. Eloise's part is there to fill in the female love interest.

Good movie, though. Surprising it's only got an average rating of 5 something in here, while that ridiculous The Ugly Truth (except for Craig Ferguson's cameo) is voted as 6 something.

Like I said, surprising.

I agree that it isn't a love film. I think it is a nice movie. And an insight into how people must feel who have lost loved ones through sudden tragic circumstances. And the acquired guilt feelings that some have to endure.
