Chick Flick

Chick Flick.

Hopefully, no, but I am not sure. I really want to see it cuz I love both Jen A. and Eakhart but I must confess I am not exactly into dramas so we'll see.

WHEN HAS JENNIFER ANISTON EVER STARRED IN A NON-CHICK FLICK THAT HASN'T SUCKED?

SO IT'LL EITHER SUCK OR BE A CHICK FLICK, EVEN THOUGH ECKHART IS A GOOD ACTOR. ONE ACTOR CAN'T SAVE A MOVIE IN THIS GENRE.

NEVER HEARD OF IT. BUT SHE WASN'T THAT DAZZLING IN DERAILED, IF YOU ASK ME.

Well, of course it's going to be a chick flick! Have you ever gone to a movie about a widower falling in love with a new woman have it turn out NOT being a chick flick?

That doesn't mean it's going to be bad though. I hate how many people (especially men) have this notion that all chick flicks are horrible. "When Harry Met Sally" is considered a chick flick, but it's probably one of the best movies of all time. It's just a classic. I don't understand the world's hatred for movies with depth. Nowadays, too many people need to see awesome special effects with poor story lines in order to be entertained, and it's sad.

Calling When Harry Met Sally a chick flick would be about as accurate as calling Se7en a slasher film.

Chick flicks take their name from applying a corporate hollywood recipe to appeal to a target audience. Hence, they cannot have depth by any stretch of the imagination.

It's a formula, not a work of art.

What the *beep* is a chick flick? Y'all sound like movies about - or featuring - female characters are inherently bad. Sounds like misogyny to me. You're either drawn to the story or you aren't but when you dismiss it as a "chick flick," you sound really hateful. To me.

reply

HAHAHAHA NOT REALLY. I JUST DON'T LIKE MOVIES THAT ARE ROMANTIC BUT TRY TO BE/ARE ADVERTISED AS COMEDIES TO DRAW A BIGGER AUDIENCE. jesus *beep* CHRIST. feminist PRICK.

BESIDES. THE HOLIDAY WAS ALRIGHT. I DISCREDITED A MOVIE GENRE, NOT A GENDER, *beep* LOOK AT DOMINO, I LOVE THAT MOVIE. MAIN CHARACTER IS A CHICK. OOOOOH, MISOGYNY IS RUNNING RAMPANT!

BREAK YOUR OWN NECK AND SAVE SOMEBODY ELSE THE TROUBLE.

gregbizkit, first of all as almost everyone who uses the internet knows that posting with caps on is extremely annoying, so unless this is your first time using the internet, then you are a f**ing prick, also you seem very antifeminist, which is disgusting since our society is moving forward but its people like you who moves our society backwards

What a sad commentary that someone would feel the need to start a thread with this title.

Seriously; would you do the same for other genres?

'Action Flick'

'Horror Flick'

'Black Comedy'

'Drama'

The OP has used the genre label as a pejorative. Why? What's the point? Can you imagine someone walking into a book shop and doing a tour, taking random titles off shelves and 'announcing' to everyone:

'Murder Mystery!'

'Children's Lit!'

'Political Science!'

'Anthropology!'

LOL

(Maybe we should have a contest to label the OP...)

Oh, and for the record: most cases of 'misogyny' aren't. They should be labeled 'Disrespectful'. How about we save 'misogyny's power for when it's actually required? That way, it hasn't become diluted. As for what to do about men who are disrespectful to women... I suspect their lives are probably pretty miserable enough as they are, so they're probably best left to their own devices. Just don't feed them.

Maybe, but I think Aaron Eckhart appeals to a segment of male movie-goers. And whether or not it's a chick flick, as long as it's a good story with good acting, it's worthwhile seeing IMO.

I agree. The Holiday is mosly considered a chick flick but hey I really thought it was a good movie. There are differences, for example I was dragged to see Sex and the City, but that DEFINITELY is more enjoyable for woman.

It's not really in the chick flick category. And it's definitely not a love film. Badly titled in my opinion. But a nice movie all the same.
