A way out for Matthew

I have an idea. I think Matthew Macfadyen's agents should get a publicity shot of him visiting a children's agency like Childline to show him as a caring Dad, this would do a great deal to protect his image. If he is genuine about not wanting to appear sympathetic towards paedophiles, then this would be a great way to counteract the unease people are feeling. He seems a nice caring father and he would give the charity some publicity too.

I don't think Mathew needs to worry about his image too much. Most people realise this is actually a film (i.e. not real) and Mathew isn't actually a piedophile.

Hi there, oh I think actors do have to watch their image, but hey he doesn't seem too bothered does he? A very good TV drama, and I hold my hands up to the fact that I thought it would be much, much worse. However only 1m people watched it, so it isn't going to change anything. I did pre-judge because I know what these trendy TV types are like and was pleasantly surprised that Matthew put in such a good performance and because of that he didn't illicit too much sympathy for his character. But for goodness sake, why did we need to have a film when as one reviewer said, a good documentary would have been so much better. However we got to admire Mr Macfadyen's acting skills. I was so angry and worn down by it all, and I have been called all sorts of names, but I sincerely believed that this drama was bad news. However, I am pleased to say that I was wrong and it was handled with care in the end. There are lots who will say "I told you so", but I was annoyed by all the secrecy, nobody seemed to have a synopsis or any sort of info on the film. But now I can relax, it is over and it turned out reasonably well. Hopefully Mr M will get the recognition he deserves.

Maisie, you reminded me, the drama Men Only, which was very very disturbing at the end........I could barely cope watching it, it was a bit graphic. (to do with rape and abusing this girl, three lads......you get the idea - cause they taped themselves)

anyhow actor Marc Warren out of it said that for a while after when in supermarkets, etc, he would get hateful comments said to him, people maybe even spitting at him......etc......hate mail too, for the role he played.

well thats from an interview in a magazine.......

so I am truly sorry if what I said was fake, thanks to false interviews.

Why should he have to 'protect' his image because stupid people can't tell the difference between TV and real life?

You seem to like the word "stupid".

Maisie, it is called acting for a reason. First, I think people are clever enough to understand that Matthew Macfadyen is not a pedophile. Second, I disagree with the "actors has an image to protect" simply because their goal is not to have an image in order to be able to play roles as diverse as possible. But then it is only my opinion and you are entitled to yours. But most of the people here or on the Macfadyen's board know clearly that Matthew is a nice person and not a pedophile and therefore, he does not need to prove it.
