I found him annoying and almost singlehandedly ruined the movie.
shareThat kid did a wonderful job in that role. The way he played that child, about to lose everything he had in the world, and knowing (on the beach at the end) that soon he'd be facing all of that dark wasteland entirely on his own, just broke my heart unlike anything else I've seen onscreen.
shareI appreciate your perspective and agree to a point but, for the most part, stand by what I said above.
Since the only world he's ever known is the hard, lawless post-apocalyptic society with a strong, loving father, I think the kid would've more realistically faced the situation with a general spirit of adventure & vigor. As it was, he's weak, irritating and unconvincingly naive. It's not the actor's fault as he did fine with what was written/directed for him.
His role would've worked for a little girl.
