Amy ruined the show

The show used to be funny, quirky and the best parts were when Sheldon would just go nuts and act like an idiot...

Then Amy comes along and berates him for everything he does that made Sheldon what he is....

It should have been called the Big Cuck Theory after she appeared.

She just doesn't fit....the whole plain Jane thing was done to satisfy the women who watched the show who wanted a frumpy character.

reply

That's...an entirely different thing to your original point? Which is it, cuck or frumpy placeholder?

reply

Both.

reply

I think the show got hundred times better. What a misogynist!

reply

I think she added a fresh view to the show.

reply

Yeah, a fresh view of ruining a main character.

reply

How has he actually been ruined though? He's barely changed in 10 years.

"misogynist" -- seriously?

The word is so overused by whiney SJWs that it takes away from real misogyny.

reply

Sadly, SJWs have rendered so many words neutered that we need new words to replace them. Words like misogynist, racist, homophobe, xenophobe, etc. have no longer carry any weight. When cartoons like Charlie Brown are now all of those, there's no where left to go.

A person who doesn't like Amy Farrah Fowler is now a misogynist. There could be no other possibility, except perhaps, using that logic - the poster who doesn't like her character may also be an anti-Semite.

reply

"bigot" is another one of their favorites. What's ironic is their annoying words/actions reveal them to be the real bigots.

He was saying Amy is the cuck.

-big shrug-

He's virtually no different to how he was, just has Amy there now.

reply

She's so-so. She has her moments, but she's not a favorite.

reply

I agree. I don't think any of the character asides from Leonard should have coupled up. Sheldon was definitely one to stay single, he has been house broken.

reply

At least Howard and Bernadette are fun, now it's Amy browbeating Sheldon and Raj pairing up with the Goblin King from the Hobbit.

reply

They all grew up and married their mother version 2.

reply

Basically, yes. All their women get paid more than they do as well. Not so bad for the most part as they are all well educated etc but Penny? She has gone from waitress to big earner based on what exactly?

reply

If they wanted to add a little true life drama, she is sleeping with her boss.

reply

Well, she did touch him for longer than two Mississippi

reply

I watch this show pretty randomly. Sometimes recent eps, sometimes early ones. Not a fan and i've never watched it through so I have a pretty unbiased and objective point of view with it. The show is definitely worse with Amy. It's worse in general with all of them settled into relationships. But if you wanted to pin point Amy as the moment it turned, it fits. They put this show together the way they did, whatever, but if they really wanted to make a show about these characters that would run for ten years, they should have started them younger in their lives.

reply

Agree with everything you said (and said well) except for:

They put this show together the way they did, whatever, but if they really wanted to make a show about these characters that would run for ten years, they should have started them younger in their lives.

Out of the hundreds of new shows pitched every year, very few even get to the pilot stage. Many of those are not bought and never see broadcast. Those that make it out are usually those where the intangible cast magic happens. If they selected actors based on age, it's quite possible we wouldn't be talking about this at all.

reply

Good point. Maybe something even discussed by the producers at the time.

reply

Don't Amy and Sheldon eventually get married?

reply

Initially, Amy was as neurotic and uptight as Sheldon and she was hilarious. Then, they decided to turn her into a ditzy broad who's constantly horny which is the opposite of who she used to be. And yes, she keeps berating Sheldon instead of agreeing with him. She's a different person and Amy in name only. It's very annoying.
