Sheldon throwing the food in the trash and getting it back out

Anyone remember that? I believe its season 1 where Leonard makes up a lie to get out of hearing Penny singing, and they pretend they're going down the stairs and Leonard tells Penny its to throwaway some chicken, in reality its chicken they just bought.

Sheldon reluctantly throws it away to go along with Leonard, then after Penny leaves Sheldon without hesitation really just sticks his hand down in the trash and just blows the dust and trash off the bag and goes on upstairs to eat it.

I just find that really out of character, we know Sheldon is a germ freak and wont even touch the button on hand dryers in public bathrooms, yet he's fine reaching into a public trash can and getting food out he's gonna eat? I know it was in a bag but Sheldon would still deem it inedible.

Maybe he hadn't been developed as such a germophobe in season 1? I forget. Oh and I gotta say, the word is inedible =)

Yes this bugs me every time I see this episode! But as the other person said it must just be because his character wasn't fully developed. As someone who started the series about season 3 or 4 though, I immediately said HEY he would never do that!!

Yah that was more of a George Costanza kinda stuff lol.. definitely not purell-obsessed Sheldon
