I can care less about Trent, season one focused more on Sam and Devon so I didnt buy this Trent/Sam BS.... Sam was a bitch though, for dreaming about Trent while with Devon.. Sure Devon had anger issues but all guys do when they see there girl spending time with other men.

Devon was abusive and very, very controlling. Remember when Sam didn't come home that night because of that robbery? He TOTALLY freaked out and accused her of being a slut. Things just happened with Trent, Samantha never planned it. I think if Devon hadn't been so paranoid about what Samantha was doing when they weren't around one another, they'd probably still be together. Samantha never felt ANYTHING for Noah, or any of her other male friends.
Yes, Devon had anger issues but they got out of control. As someone who has been in an abusive relationship, not every person is prone to extreme jealousy. I mean, sure, everyone gets jealous...but not in a threatening way like Devon way. Trent at least understood her to a point, and trusted her completely.
Devon never trusted Samantha. While I liked how they looked together, I honestly never thought they could /live/ together, at least for a long period of time. They were at each other's throats, constantly. The relationship was entirely one sided. Samantha LIKED Devon, but didn't love him. And that was a problem because when you're with someone, you should have some sort of idea whether or not you have deeper feelings for them.
Sometimes, you just can't choose who you fall for. Samantha fell for Trent. She didn't plan it and didn't realize it right away because she was trying to make things work with Devon.
I agree. Sam and Trent did nothing for me either. I started watching the show because of the fliriting between Sam and Devon in the previews.
To say that Devon was abusive is a huge stretch. He accused her of being a slut out of anger and insecurity. That's all I can remember him doing. If you want to go that route, why not accuse Kathryn of being abusive. She did far worse things to Sam than Devon ever did. Plus, she forgave them both and remained friends. So he couldn't have been as bad as you made him seem.
All in all it really doesn't matter because they are both gone. I do miss Devon as well as Dawn, but they have moved on.
