Did she like him? *spoilers*

Throughout the movie, the main character "Santi" was being stalked by the feral girl. But why did she not attack him at all? I mean, she attacked everyone else that was mean to him (The boy in the beginning, the one eyed farmer, and the house owner at the end)

If you ask me, i think she kinda liked him. Throwing Soccer balls at him for attention, going into his house at night to watch him. Especially in the ending when she held onto him for comfort as everyone saw her.

Yeah. I saw this from the beginning. All the victims had one thing in the common - they were mean to Santi. Jacob(?) the bully, Dimas and the mean drunk in the road. She saw Santi as frail because of his disease and because of what others were doing to him. She seemed to not only like him but felt protective over him. I loved this aspect of the film because it showed the girl not to be evil, but to have natural animal instincts - not just to kill, but to love as well.

It would have been nice if the film had explored a tiny bit more about Erika - you were left feeling that too much story was left on the cutting room floor. She was too young to have sexual feelings toward him. I think that Erika felt kindness toward Santi as a Big Brother; since he lived in her house and maybe reminded her of her father(?). But that's a stretch. It's hard to imagine that she was even aware of his illness, but she was definitely stalking him in and out of the house, which I think was the link.

Was she back at the orphanage at the very end?

I think she was at the orphanage at the end. They show her with Gecko's habitat, and then the movie shows the nun taking the tank (not sure if that's the right word for it) away.
I'm pretty sure the scene with her and the sharpened rock was a sign that she was going to escape again.

All of the victims *did* have something in common, and it wasn't "being mean to Santi". Every single victim was holding a gun when they were attacked. Just like the man who shot her father.

I have to agree with tablespoon81 on this. The first boy, Jonas, although he took Santi's hat in the beginning was more of a jerk than a bully. He even saved Santi from a bear trap in the woods when they made a dumb move and went looking after the creature (girl). Plus she could not have seen his heinous act of stealing Santi's hat in the beginning. It had to be because he was firing a gun, which would beg the question of why she didn't kill the farmer guy in the beginning after she attacked his sheep.

I don't think she was stalking him so much as she was stalking the house. I don't think he really posed a threat to her since he never had a weapon or a gun and most of the people she killed fired their weapon at her.

The only indications we have that she may have seen him in some way different from the other people was when she latched on to Santi at the end when all the people came in the room and possibly the fact that she didn't kill him whenever she had the chance to, but then again she didn't kill the little boy either. She simply threw the rock back at him. I think for her it was a mixture of human qualities and animal qualities. As a human she was curious and yearned for some type of companionship from another human, but the anmial instincts in her would react if she felt threatened.

Erika learned the ways of the wolf. She learned their incredible loyalty to one another. They are the most closely-studied of all pack animals (that I know of) and Erika probably saw Santi as a member of her pack. Otherwise, she would have killed him almost immediately and left his body where it lay, with no signs of unnecessary mutilation. Hunger wouldn't have anything to do with it. I don't think there was any sexual connotation to her watching out for Santi. Not to say that wouldn't come later, but that would be a different story. Any creative writers out there? I bequeath you my idea. Has it already been done? Please tell me the title or author, whether they be on film or at the library.

I enjoyed all of the messages under "Did she like him?" How often do you get to say that?! TYVM

"Erika learned the ways of the wolf."

Except, she was lost in the jungle in Africa, and there aren't any wolves there. She evidently did learn the ways of some animal(s), but not wolves, IMO.

I actually thought the same thing. That she had a connection to Santi. I dont think she necessarily killed the people who were mean to him, she mainly killed people with guns. But then again she killed the old lady, and she attacked the nun. All things given she could have killed him several times but did not. Plus she almost went out of her way to hide while Santi was in the room, and waited until Dimas came in. What caused her connection I dont know, but something was there.
