For those trying to make changes

It's all meaningless.

I don't know how much of what I discuss below is mentioned in the movie.

Want to understand the roots? Understand who are responsible? The answers lies in...economical imperialism, or at least western imperialism.

International Montentry Fund.

A large portion of blame for modern human trafficking lies on U.S and its pervading western neo-liberalism coupled with policies of IMF are what accelerate pure abject poverty in the Republics of former Soviet Union. U.S knew that what would rise from the ashes of Soviet Union collapse would not see democracy and respect for human rights with rising living standard but the opposite. It even backed the very corrupted first administration of post-collapse Russia. What rose from the ashes are the mafia and the criminals taking over, leading to Russia become official mafia state.

Likewise, IMF have also been responsible for the total destruction of Asia's economic, long known as Tiger Economic due to its resilient of economic fluctuation and collapse.

Human trafficking as known today first begun in 1991 with the dissolution of Soviet Union, to be accelerated further with the collapse of Yugoslavia, which Bosnia was part of.

So in essential, you could say that because of U.S push for the dissolution of Soviet Union and its backed IMF (ideology rigidly aimed to that of U.S policies), it has become responsible for the explosion of human trafficking. Scary to know that, isn't it?

Today, human trafficking occurs heavily in Kosovo (Kosovo was the hotbed of Yugoslavia war after Bosnia-and located just south of Serbia or Bosnia). To service U.S army, the only actual foreign soldiers on the soil of Kosovo. The ruling class/leaders of Kosovo government are fully involved in the human trafficking as well as organ trafficking. The president is known to possess his own sex slaves harem. And guess what, Kosovo government and its leaders are fully appointed and backed by U.S government.

Another perspective to understand is the apathy of ruling class all over the world. How else do you think human trafficking could explode on this scale in Europe, Asia and so on? Another perspective to understand is that not only ruling class is apathy, they are also composed of individuals as well as entities: international bankers, banking systems, corporations, and so on. So in essential the character of that ruling class is psychopathy.

Do you really think anyone in u.S government gives a damn? Looks how it gave free pass to Dyncorp (the U.S Military corporation responsible for the scandal as shown in the film).

Maybe, just maybe one day human trafficking will end. But it surely will not end until the ruling class decides it is in their favor to do so.

And by the time then, tens of million of women and girls will have already been raped thousand times each, tortured, and killed (if not physically, then psychologically and spiritually).

You say that the root cause of sex traffic is imperialism? No, the real cause is men - male desire for sex with women. You could also say that women are the cause - they are so sexy in male eyes. Not all women of course, only the young ones; old women have nothing to worry about, nobody wants to sex-traffic them.

reply

it wasn't about sex but sadism.

reply

half true, but the decisive factor isn't economy, it's the culture of a corrupted secret society.

And here I was thinking that what happened was just because some men are disgusting pigs who secretly wish to torture and rape women and once they get into a place where they can do it and go away with it, they do it happily.

I am not defending the US foreign policies, which I abominate of course, much less private companies (they shouldn't even exist, war should not be a business). But the thing is the company here is not the direct culprit and they did what they could. They are a company they are not a court or a police institution so they could not prosecute the guilty ones, the only thing they could do was to fire them. It is up to government institutions to prosecute the responsible for war crimes and they are the ones that are failing. At least if they were government troops, there is a code of honor for them to follow and when they don't they are tried at military courts.

We just watched this. Couldn't believe this was going on and still is going on over there.
I was very very shocked to say the least!!!

Why is the UN sending white trash over there willing to participate in human trafficking instead of helping these poor under-age girls???
The UN peace workers receive $100.000 for staying over there for 6 months. Isn't that more than enough income to live on AND send money home to your family in the US during these 6 months without feeling tempted to make even more money via trafficking? I don't understand such human beings. To me they are despicable monsters.

Weisz played a very brave character based on a true story. This is by far the best role I ever saw her playing. Bravo!!!

Ah the UN has much darker history of *beep* ups during the Bosnian war such as allowing the genocide that had happened under watch. Has anyone heard about the Srebrenica massacre? The UN declared the 'safe zone' for thousands of innocent civilians there, then promptly handed them over to the Serbs (the agressors of the Bosnian war) who then raped the women and girls and slaughtered the men and boys after which they thew them in the mass graves. About 8000 partial corpses have been since recovered with thousands still missing (it will take a long time, if ever, until all of the mass graves are discovered). Therefore, the UN shares the blame for such atrocities.
