Total gross $1,120,914 (USA)??

Sad.

This movie was probably too depressing (not to mention anti-American) for average movie-goer's taste. They'd rather discuss "The Avengers" or "the Dark Knight" .
Even the highest UN officials didn't care about what was going on. How can we expect average person to take interest? Sad...

Good point - I guess its darker/more depressing than Boys Don't Cry

Anti-American?

It isn't, in any way.

For jingoist rednecks ANYTHING that shows the USA as less than perfect is "anti american".

Please note the fact that on the opening weekend it was shown on a grand total of SEVEN (7) screens nationwide. Take a movie like Erin Brockovich which has a roughly similar theme (general ballpark) and that was shown on 2848 screens nationwide on opening weekend. I cannot help but feel that it was deliberately and intentionally suppressed. Think about it.

Strange that a film with an Oscar-winning lead (Rachel Weisz), supporting star power, (Academy Award-winning Vanessa Redgrave, Oscar nominee David Strathairn, and Monica Bellucci), a gripping topic, and critical acclaim (78% on Rotten Tomatoes). It also took 8 years to get the film off the ground as funding was difficult to raise. It only went through after Weisz signed on. The tiny box office earnings on such a film would almost have to be engineered.

Makes sense, this is a nation that voted in people who viciously prosecuted any whistleblowers. So I can see that this would not be popular.

The obummer administration would have put her in jail.
