Soldiers that squeal...

should be thrown in the stockade or given a blanket party. They are lucky I wasn't in their platoon. These detainy facilities look like a lot of fun. I should have been an MP! I hope our military confiscates cameras and cell phones now during inprocessing. That should be considered contraband anyway.

Sounds like typical jingoistic usa idiocy. Glad you weren't in the military. They have their fill of non-thinking morons with no values. Off you go now. Off you go, Heather.

reply

I was in the military, you obviously were not or you would have some empathy for our troops. Put yourself in their situation and see how you would act towards people that are trying to kill you or killed your best friend. So off you go loser, Off you go.

If you had paid any attention to the documentary (did you even watch it?) you would have noticed how it attempts to humanize and offer lucid perspective on the soldiers charged with these actions, portraying them as persons manipulated by higher powers who have ultimately walked away scot free. Recall the film's ending line:
No one above the rank of Staff Sergeant has served time in prison for the abuses at Abu Ghraib.

Funny how young people reveal their inexperience by jumping up and down and shouting their ludicrous respective pieces at the top of their lungs.

Humanity is in serious trouble. It's a miracle we've made it this far, what with DIONHEATHERs running around. They just want to be different, I guess.

Check out her myspace page. It is typical of a non-thinking "go usa" person. She's got family members in the military and apparently she's in as well. The military counts on morons like her.

Wow, it is amazing that we are sacrificing ourselves and risking our lives everyday so that that idiots like you have the freedom to speak like an idiot. How many terrorists have you confronted today?

Typical imperialist response. I expected nothing less from you. Oh, and you may want to check your use of "suppose" in your little quote there honey. I'm willing to bet that you never even knew there was a difference between the two. Go read a book, that is, if you're able.

Supporting Heather 100%. Its because of the "humanitarians" like silvergloss, and whiners like in the movie, so many casualties in modern warfare. WTF, are the all sponsored by Alkaida or something? Ppl w/o expirience and knowledge of islam and jihad sympathetic with terrorist are just living in their little pink world. Silvergloss, u urge ppl to read a book, but have u considered doing that urself? Try going thru some suras in quaran and see WHAT are you for muslim ppl. If you are lazy, try reading at least sura 8 thru 9. For them, raping and butchering your mom, for instance, is a very valuable deed to allah - the more "unbelievers" they kill, the bigger the payoff in afterlife.

Islam isn't a terrorist religion. It has been hijacked by people in order to do their dirty deeds. It is a peaceful religion. Bush has hijacked his own religion in order to get done what he wants. Neither side is right. And you, my friend, may try taking a typing class.

What it comes down to is this: America should be above this kind of treatment, even during wartime. It brings us down to their level. And further more, ask any expert on interrogating prisoners and they will tell you that you get more results, useable results, when you treat them more humanely. Because all you wind up doing when you use torture is that you create more terrorists. The government sent over a bunch of kids, literally 19 year olds, with no experience in interrogation techniques and put them right into the fire. What did they think was going to happen?

You, ZanoZik, are a true moron.

I think it's hilarious to read through some of these responses by people who pass judgment on our military and on our soldiers from the comfort of their own homes. Sitting on your expensive couches drinking a glass of Pepsi and watching the "news" on your big screen TV. Life is so easy isn't it? It's all black and white with no gray huh? How about you go spend ONE day in Iraq and then come back and see if you still hold those same ideals of peace and humanity. The fact of the matter is rules sometimes have to be broken if it is the only way to get information to protect human lives from being lost. Grant it some people may go overboard and some are treated unfairly. But how do you know how effective it is? YOU DON'T! Go finish watching cartoons and eat your cereal you elitist.

DIONHEATHER You need to respond to the reply from Mr Fantastic III(?) because he pegged you correctly - you didn't watch the movie and missed the whole point of it was about empathy for these lower ranking troops.

From experience with similar people, i would bet that you wouldn't understand that point and thats why this movie wasn't interesting enough for you to watch to the end.

The military establish their rules for good reasons, regardless if you dont understand why. They well know its only criminals and their enablers that need to hide their criminal behavior.

You also wouldn't know that if the administration conducted a fair investigation - instead of instructing the investigators not to investigate those higher ranks that were truly responsible - then these lower ranking troops wouldn't have taken all the blame for simply following orders. In fact, few of them would even have seen any punishment at all - so there would have been NO reason not to "squeel". Watch the movie next time.

I am former military and think the soldiers in this film were at best terrible soldiers.

The initial post is incredibly ignorant in that fails to recognize that the pictures were not taken by soldiers "that squeal," but rather by the soldiers who themselves were charged, so you missed the point all together.

But the biggest problem is that when you're serving in the military, trying to get some good stuff done, you have idiots like this getting in your way and hurting your credibility. I am not really shedding many tears over what happened to the prisoners. After all, way worst thing happened there under Sadam. If you were born in Iraq - life is *beep* Both before and after Sadam. Hopefully the future is better. But these soldiers turned into thugs, embarrassed all of us in uniform and did nothing to help our country.

I have seen some guys who turned into thugs, but at least did got something accomplished in the process. Sometimes the meanest cruelest most criminal son of a bitch is the guy to keep you from taking a bullet in the head or kill or capture a quality target.

These idiots got themselves thrown in prison, aided the enemy by supplying them with a propaganda coup, embarrassed the country and military as a whole and for what? Absolutely nothing.

Well said Gabriel. I agree with you 100%

So that's probably why they are so grateful for their treatment by the American soldiers. Because under Saddam, they had gotten used to being tortured, waterboarded, tied by electric wires, or wires on their genitals, bitten by dogs, sodomized, deprived of sleep, and eventually beaten to death during an 'interrogation'.

I am sure that the inmates at Abu Ghraib were delighted by their comfortable treatment by the US. Because 'way worse things happened under Saddam'.

In the name of these prisoners, I want to thank the American people. Please don't shed a tear. Please don't lie awake because of what was done to us in your name.

Point taken, but why jump all over my comment, when I am against this type of abuse, because I am not as weepy as you about it?

The real problem are those that support the abuse. We've done far worst - Japanese encampment, by the Democratic party's most exalted hero FDR - and unfortunately, we'll probably do much worst. Under Lincoln, one of my heroes, there was some pretty f'ed up things done too. And before you attack me again, trust me I am not comparing Bush to either. I always thought he was an idiot.

I agree with you that this type of abuse should be eliminated, that was the point of my post. But why lambaste me, cause your sense of outrage is more powerful than mine?
