Yeah, I'm a bit confused, too. The third one, The Eye 10, was so named because it provided 8 additional ghost stories, totaling 10 with the first 2 movies. I've recently noticed a movie called The Eye 3 on American store shelves, which I'm pretty sure is just an import-retitling of The Eye 10, but I've been too busy to confirm that. (Way to go and confuse us, American importers! Quit remodeling the foreign films!)
I think it's hilarious that Hollywood finally got around to remaking The Eye. Next they should remake Princess-D starring Jessica Alba as Ling and Shia LaBeouf as Joker. Ha!

yes, you are correct, the American "The Eye 3" is actually just a retitling of The Eye 10
