I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Canada (at least in Alberta) it's done by a volunteer organization. Probably not *quite* up to the standards of Sam Jackson in this movie, but at least this way grieving family/friends/whoever don't have to pay someone or, god forbid, clean up blood and brains themselves.

most police organizations contract this type of work out to local businesses that specialize in this sort of thing, my advice would be check with your local
law enforcement, and ask who they use, then go talk to them.

I saw on Discovery Science a while ago how they worked, it was very interesting bu t I can't remember how they got into it...

Who in their right mind would volunteer for such a thing???

What...does scraping brains off the floor give them a warm and fuzzy feeling?????

it's a job that needs doing, and it'd probably take someone who won't disrespect the victim of violence to do it well (and stay with the job).

if it ain't your cup of tea, don't diss the cup.

I once scraped the blood and brains of two friends off the floor after they were shot dead in their shop in Jo'burg in the course of an armed robbery that went sideways. I can confirm it is not a very nice job.

there's plenty of cleaning companies in the US who specialize in this, look them up in your area. who knows, maybe this time next week you'll be sweeping up bits of skull and brains for a living.

good luck with that!

Yeah I saw a doco on this a few months back about people in USA who do this. They earn about $1500 to $4000 a week depending how many jobs they do (they don't need many, maybe 3-5 a week to get the 'minimum' $1500). They are essentially on call most of the time as they usually need to do crime scene cleanups ASAP when called due to family members etc needing/wanting the area clean after police do any investigation/s. People were getting around $200K/yr for doing this, not too shabby, considering they were laughing at most of the stuff they cleaned up. I guess you would have to find this job humourous or else you'd end up crazy and/or quitting early.

Practice by killing in your own neighbourhood and mild self mutilation.

As this is the IMDB message boards, I will point out that the above is a joke.

There is a thin line between Love and Hate.

Ai wa kanari itai.

reply

Dexter doesn't clean up the crime scenes for his job at the police station. He's a blood spatter analysis. He only cleans up after his own crimes.

I shot a UK doco series a couple of years ago and for one of the stories we followed an L.A. crime scene cleaner around for a week. There's a clip on my site - http://www.domdop.com/doco.html (warning-it's a little bloody). The series was about the world's hardest jobs and crime scene cleaning won hand's down, it was truly awful.

These were the guys we filmed with - http://www.crimescenecleaners.com/index.html
The owner started the company after getting inspired by the Mr Wolf section of Pulp Fiction.
