....are they actually being interviewed? Is someone actually asking them questions while they film them? It seems like Tori and Dean are ALWAYS doing the Real World-like "confessions" multiple times during the show to narrate and tell how they feel and things that happened, but I am curious if they are just staring off a foot or two away from the camera and talking to themselves.
shareThe diary sessions of reality TV are actually interviews done by a producer (or whoever) asking particular and pointed questions. And the answer given by the *star* has to reflect the question so that it looks like they are just talking to the camera (or us, the audience).
For example:
Producer: Did you get upset when Tori called about the paps causing her car accident?
Bad Answer:
Dean: Yes, I was very upset especially since I was at work.
Producer: Did you get upset when Tori called about the paps causing her car accident?
Good Answer:
Dean: When Tori called and told me about the car accident w the paps, I was very upset and wanted to leave work to take her to the doctors...
Dean reflected the question back so that we know what he was talking about and we do not have to be distracted w another person in the shot (or off camera)
