Worried about her kids

So she is in the hospital awaiting surgery and starts crying with worry that if she dies her children will not have her anymore.

A) Where was her concern for Dean's children when she encouraged their father to abandon them?

B) Which only makes me feel she is extremely self involved to be worried about her own kids living on without her, as if she is so awesome, yet Dean is a piece of crap that his kids can "easily" go on without him?

I wasn't really siding either way because I know life sux (my dad did the same thing Dean did but did not go on to have other children) and these things happen but that was just too much.

I didn't even dislike her at all until that moment.
