I wanted to rip my eyes out after the ending

Beginning? Fine.
Middle? Okay.
End?

Okay so, Nora falls for Edward but she refuses to admit it. In response, Edward gets engaged to the next girl he meets. Then when Nora tells him how she really feels, he dumps the other chick and Nora and Edward get married...I thought I was watching a Disney movie.

Don't get me wrong; I love Disney movies. But this movie was supposed to be about two previously rich sisters learning to appreciate the common life. They did good with Mary. But with Nora, I felt like I was watching a cheesy love story written by a naive 6-year-old. It felt sooooo forced.

I really wish they hadn't thrown in the "Edward's getting married to another girl" angle. It was completely ridiculous.

Agree? Disagree? Discuss.

Like a lot of Hollywood movies the ending to 'Prada' was kind of twisted so that our hero (Nora) and the good guy (Edward) could end up together. It WAS far fetched. It may (repeat 'may') have worked better if the story included a few more glimpses of the fiancee...perhaps making her out to be just as evil as Edward's older sister.

Good scene at the engagement party though where Nora almosts breaks down confessing her feelings to Edward.

And speaking of far fetched! Young people a little drunk at a party don't pull away from their first kiss with someone they like...and start going off on their "ten year plan". Still, a truly good film with many of the actors (Wilmer, Alexa and Camilla) nailing their roles. Cheers!

The "twist" is very much like the twist in the original story this is based on, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austin. Edward was ultimately engaged to someone else before that ended and he married Elinor (Nora in this movie).

Actually this movie jumps time so you really have no idea how much time has elapsed in between in each event. It doesn't happen all in a few days.

This is based on Jane Austens Sense and Sensability and that's how the book goes

Although, I agree that it felt a tiny bit rushed, I do think that the scene where Nora tells Edward how she feels was really good. After that you just have to fill in the gaps, Edward probably breaks off his engagement, buys the house and he and Nora decide to marry. I don't know, for me it doesn't really matter too much. I understood the movie perfectly and I thought the wedding was awesome.

Baby, you are gonna miss that plane.

On rewatching, I was really bothered by the Edward storyline and character. I get the engagement as something that comes from the original, but I feel like they handled it really badly. Edward now comes across as frankly manipulative, because there are two instances in the film where he essentially maneuvres Nora into being with him, without respecting her wishes/consulting it with her... and it seems to be a character trait throughout the film (also with the promotion she turned down), so I ended up really disliking him. There are certainly some intended saving graces to it (like him moving to her neighbourhood because he sees it's important to her, right?) - but the way it was handled, those are skimmed over and the manipulativeness and seeming shallowness are much more prominent. At the end, when I tried to imagine myself in Nora's place, I felt much more like slapping than kissing him... he leaves you thinking he's marrying someone else and then out of the blue asks you to move in with him and marry him? Made sense in the original setting, but in this modern one, it's very fishy. They could have, at the very least, make him not spring it on her so forcefully when he arrives; the way it was done, it only reinforced him as a manipulative character that I would not want Nora to be with for the rest of her life. That household is so not going to work right. :P
