eh (some spoilers-ish)

I was bothered by the creepy way reena talked about the fire. In the book it was more of a love thing. In the movie i got the impression that she was some sort of pyrophile (if that's a real word).

and with the deaths of her boyfriends...correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt one of Reena's ddriving obsessions something to do with how her first boyfriend died from falling asleep with a ciggaret and he didnt smoke.

and she had a break up i with the second boyfriend - he tried to hit her?- so it was a rough break and he died in a car bomb... and so it wasnt really all that crazy that she could fall for Bo since she wasnt madly in love with the deceased second lover...

I haven't read the book, but it's completely understandable for the movie to deviate from the original story. They had to fit a long book into 1.5 hours. I think they did a good job.

I think it's pyromaniac? I know she didn't start any fires but she was a fire lover in a kind of weird way.

She was a pyromaniac, but in more of a positive then a negative light. Reena knew the fire; she understood and respected it in a way.

Her obsession came early. The 1st boyfriend's death was an extra incentive towards her goal, but it wasn't the beginning of her DRIVING obsession. Her 2nd boyfriend was abusive and did hit her, but he didn't die. It was the third potential boyfriend that was still a new relationship that was murdered and then his truck was set to flames. She wasn't madly in love with this particular boy. Like many women, her first love and lover still remained in her mind and heart though.

I haven't seen the movie, but have read the book, so hopefully that clears up some confusion.

Yeah Reena will always love Josh her first but I think she fell in love w/Bo as well, it was kind of a "fate" storyline b/w Reena/Bo - he saw her at a party like 6 years ago, then several times he saw her again but it was like "fate" wasn't ready for them to meet yet. I love when she moved next door to him (he lived there first so it wasn't stalking her); in the movie he was so happy he didn't know what to say to her and/or why he was behaving like a "boy w/a school crush", he was so charming, very sweet w/her family (the family really took a liking to him as well), he treated her respectfully - Josh will always be in her heart, but Bo was her future "true love" - it took them long enough to finally meet "officially" for the first time (when she moved next door to him) I love those "fate" type movies and Nora Roberts did well w/this one; I use to read a lot of her books and Anne Rice books (big difference in my reading material, huh? well I met Anne Rice when she lived down here in Louisiana- New Orleans - born and raised here myself; anyway I got to go to her house w/a friend of mine who was invited - it was so gothic I loved it) It was St. Elizabeth for Girls home when I was younger and I had a lot of friends who lived there at the time -- I wonder if any of them went back to see what Anne did to their old house; Anne Rice has since moved, but it was cool meeting her needless to say she is a very intriguing lady and has a great mind for writing such great books, if you like that kind of writing which I do.) SORRY SO LONG just admiring a couple of my fave writers -- also Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, John Grisham to name a few...
