Unedifying Spectacle

As a long time fan of both Scorsese and The Stones I really wanted to enjoy this movie but it ended up giving me the creeps. While one can admire Jagger's trim physique there's something unnatural and unedifying about watching an old man attempt to prance about the stage in the manner of a much youger version of oneself when performing the more energetic numbers. The experience of watching the concert was not wholly bad - the band was able to bring their maturity to play in the rendition of the slower numbers (As Tears Go By was particularly haunting) - but I couldn't shake the impression that I was watching a bunch of old farts perform as caricatures of their former selves.

I thought it was perfect. Best concert film I've ever seen
