Amazed how good it was and also ...

Hello, I just got back from the cinema, after watching Shine a Light. First of all I want to say that I am in no way a Stones fan. My father is and I like a few songs, but that's it. I was amazed of how good the movie was. I really liked it. The other thing that astonished me was that me and my girlfriend were the only people watching the movie!! And it's its first week here !! The big house was totally empty and only 2 people (us) enjoyed this beautiful movie. We left the cinema with a good feeling and it was really romantic to have the whole movie go just for us. :)

My parents went to see the movie in theaters (I, on the other hand, was stuck at college while it was out in theaters, and lacked the transportation required to go out and see it. And I don't think any of my friends were really interested in seeing it at the time, even though a few months ago I got one of my friends obsessed with the Stones and showed her the DVD). My mom's a big Stones fan; my Dad, not so much. The both loved the film, though, and said it was like being at a real concert. Apparently for several weeks after seeing Shine a Light, my dad kept forgetting that it was just a movie they saw, and kept telling his friends about "the awesome Stones concert we just went to". It's too bad the effect isn't quite the same when you're watching it on a tiny screen in your living room, which is how I had to see it. I don't often have reason to be jealous of my parents, but in the case of Shine a Light...grrr...it's not fair! I'm a bigger Stones fan than either of my parents! Well, a bigger Stones fan than my dad, anyway...

That's totally weird that you were the only two people in the theater that day. You'd think there'd be more people interested in seeing an excellent Stones concert film directed by Martin Scorsese (who can make a pretty mean rockumentary, let me tell you). But thats' still kind of awesome you had the whole theater to yourselves!

I want...I want...I WANT EVERYTHING I'VE EVER SEEN IN THE MOVIES!

I saw it on an IMAX screen and was quite frankly blown away. I'm ten years younger than Mick and have seen the Stones on stage many times over the years. But like this, close enough to see the lines on their faces, the sweat on Jagger's brow, and the marvelous emotional life that accompanies each member of the group while they perform, was extraordinary. Seeing Mick do what he does at age 64 (or whatever), I realize that age is nothing to fear.

I was also amazed. Great performances and great film work from Scorsese.
One of the better concert films in many years.

Nice to see a positive thread on here among all the complainers!

I had a great time in the theater — wouldn't mind if it came around again. I just came across this site with a ton of details on it — http://brianhassett.com/2008/03/shine-a-light-the-new-scorsese-stones- concert-film/

made me think of it and come back for a look-see what the Stoney movie fans were saying.

I loved the variety of song choices — from the early classics and rarities to Some Girls and the other stuff from that album. And the Beacon is such a classy classic rock n roll venue — seen a lot of shows there over the years — great to be transported back there.

Anyway, glad this got made, and that you guys had as good a time at it as I did!
