No, he's alive and well but imprisoned in a cage at Shrek's swamp. You can see him at the very end during the final curtain call set to "I'm a Believer". He witnesses his beloved Fifi bird get blown up by Fiona's singing then he's forced to dance by the Pied Piper. They show him again in the Donkey's Christmas Shrek-tacular short, still locked in the cage.
