Love this movie, disappointed with sequel...

Don't get me wrong, it does have some great moments; courtesy of Hiccup's parents and the touching scene at the end. Great opening too. But it gets lost in it's own framework and comes out as an amalgam. I was so mad because I felt the first movie and the characters were let down...

But THIS first film, just watched it again. I'm all kinds of happy, bittersweet, sad and nostalgic. It's so effing perfect. The music, animation, characters... It's a little longer but gee golly it's worth it! XD See that, see what I just said, "Gee Golly", that's how much I love this film.

Let's boycott the third one... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'm with you. This movie is so amazing and I definitely think it's way better than the second.

Don't get me wrong, HTTYD2 was still gorgeous, but it just doesn't have the same magic. Also, I get the whole puberty thing, but I still find it hard to connect the young Hiccup with the older one as the same character.

I disagree, I enjoyed the sequel much more. The first one may have had all that visual magic and stuff, but the second film made me cry...twice! I liked the story and character better in the second one too.

If everything is not all rainbows and kittens for you today, hopefully it will be tomorrow!

I don't really get that TBH. I loved the first film but I honestly thought the sequel was twice as good. Better animation, better story, more humour and a better soundtrack.
Each to their own, though.
