Sadly, I'm glad it was canceled..

The first Season of Eli Stone was near magical. The characters, while flawed, where good people. People that were struggling to deal with their lives, careers and for one of them, a brain aneurysm. This show made me extremely happy and content inside. It had been a while since I watched a show that was drama free with great stories.

Then Season 2 came along. Either they completely replaced the writers or the studio forced them to 'shake' things up. Every episode was filled with gut wrenching drama about the most innate things. Characters started acting different, at least based on their Season 1 personalities. The show must have been doing poorly after Season 1 and they thought drama and conflict with increase their scores.

After reading what the writers had in store for Season 3 and beyond I am extremely happy the show was canceled. They were going to take Eli through absurd conflicts. I love the idea of him potentially getting messages from God or a higher power. You could see his view of life change from Episode 1 to Episode 13. He became a better person. The only problem is that every other character went from being a normal person to a trouble maker and drama creator.

* Maggi completely going over to the dark side in Season 2 by working for the two worst people in the show.
* Eli starts ignoring advice from Dr. Shen and see's another 'Doctor' for the Dark Truth while pushing away everyone that cared about him.
* Patti revealing she was an alcoholic and did terrible things to people
* Jordan's wife divorcing him and asking for an absurd amount of alimony because she 'deserve's this lifestyle while Jordan is going bankrupt.
* Jordan pushed Taylor's mom out of her life and prevented her from having a mother
* Maggie sleeping with Eli then crushing him while he's trying to tell her he loves her.
* Maggie sleeping with some no name, out of no where, cut-throat 18 year old attorney who now seems to run the evil company.
* Taylor thinking of terminating her pregnancy because she think's Dowd can't handle it.
* Taylor thinking of terminating her pregnancy because it may have Down's Syndrom
* Taylor not telling Dowd about the pregnancy and then treating Dowd like crap.
* Eli not telling his brother (Nate) that he had a vision about his (Nate's) wedding. Really? Out of EVERYTHING that has happened in this show.. Eli now decides to not tell his brother about a vision? Really writers?
* Martin, Jordan' right hand man trying to get him fired / declared insane. This one isn't so hard to believe since he was already a bad person.. but still came out of no where.
* Taylor right off the bat in Episode 1 of Season 2 treats Eli like a diseased child molester with her looks and tone of voice. They had already had it in their minds they needed to create friction between Eli and Taylor.
* Eli has a vision of Maggie defending the Paint companies in the Supreme Court hearing.. She all of a sudden went from a Social Justice Attorney to Big Business? Are we supposed to believe her poor little heart being broken drove her to that? Was Maggie really so weak as to completely change her whole personality and core of her being?

As for what was _supposed_ to happen in Season 3:

* Maggie ends up with Nate? I was all for the legalization of marijuana in California but the writers need to get some help at a good rehab center. It's like they thought: We haven't created enough incredibly silly drama for no reason in Season 2, we ought to shuffle a deck of taro cards and do what they say.
* Eli's vision of him kissing the baby next to Maggie was meant to show Nate running late to that party.. and it was his Niece or Nephew.. not his own. Again, so glad this show was canceled.

While I realize this is just a TV show, it gave me such a pleasant and happy feeling while watching Season 1. My wife and I would talk about each episode while we waited for the next to load. It didn't involve any negative dramatic feelings.

Part of me wishes that show was canceled after Season 1 as Season 2 has utterly destroyed the essence of the show. If this show was ever brought back through some miracle, I beg the producers to ensure that the Season 1 writers are on staff and that the individuals that pushed the aborted train wreck that was Season 2 are bared from entering the studio.
