Custom Songs?

Does anyone know how to put custom songs on guitar hero 2 for ps2? I saw this guy on youtube put face down on it and now i reealy want to.

reply

Yeah, but it's really complicated and it involves taking off songs from the disk and losing them forever.

Like the person said above me, it's really complicated. I was going to do it at first but after seeing the youtube video on how to do it I'm afraid I'll break either my GH disc or playstation (your PS2 either needs to have a mod chip or a slide tool, which is shown in one of this guys videos on how to use, but like I said, I'm afraid I'll break my PS2 or something). But then again, lots of people on youtube have created custom songs, so maybe you should give it a try if you still want to. Here's the link to the first video on how to do it. This is just ONE video. There's a few videos by this guy that you need to watch to know how to do it:

Thanks. Do you need to have a fat ps2 or a slim one? I have the fat one. Also. whats a mod chip?

reply

If you're going to use the slide too instead of the mod chip, then you need the fat PS2 (Shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdYKMVWG9SY). And as far as a mod chip goes, I'm not entirely sure what it is either. I just know that it goes in to your PS2 somehow. But if you follow the guys instructions on the video, then you can just use the slide tool (which can also be an old credit card) instead of having a mod chip.

Like I said though, it looks kind of tricky. I'm afraid I'll break my PS2 by doing this, so you definitly gotta be careful haha.

Mod chip: Chip that mods.

It requires taking apart your playstation, some insertion, some soldering. Basic engineering skills.

You can buy the mod chips. Or make them yourself. Buying them is probably the easier way. I'm sure there's tutorials on where to buy them and how to make them. But again, if you don't know engineering, I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself.

But what is the slide or credit card or whatever for? And why does it need to go in the ps2?

reply

Well sir. Think of it like a computer. It is one. It's kinda like adding a motherboard to a computer, you know what I mean? It modifies the computer, as software does. But in this case the software is the videogame, and the hardware is the mod chip and the PS2.

I don't know how it EXACTLY works, it's all high tech sorcery to me, but basically it amount to the fact that you need the PS2 to do something that it wasn't programmed to do. So short of being able to reprogram the PS2's software which you can't, you need to add a chip to change the circuitry to MAKE the PS2 do something different.
