Not as impressed as I should be with GHIII.

I must say that all the regular songs are pretty much amazing. However, I've noticed a big problem with the main songs: too much repetition of good bands, not enough from great bands and artists.

Come on. We've got 2 Aerosmith songs and 1 Jimi Hendrix song? Two Rage Against the Machine songs and 1 The Who song? 2 Pearl Jam songs and, well, zero AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, CCR, Frank Zappa, Radiohead, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, The Doors or Pink Floyd?

I mean, I'm not saying III is bad or anything, it does have quite a few great guitarists we haven't played yet (Eric Johnson, how BA?), but I kinda wanted more Legends out of the Legends of Rock.

Also, the bonus songs I think suck a little more than usual. I'm usually not ENTIRELY impressed with all of them, but on the other hand, there's usually a few songs I absolutely love. Like if I'm playing GH II or Rock the 80s, and I get the urge, I will literally stop what I'm doing to put in GH and play Cheat on the Church - Graveyard BBQ. Or, if I'll stop what I'm doing to change discs to play "Ready 2 Rokk," "Less Talk More Rokk," "Jordan," "Trogdor," or "Thunderhorse." However, none of the bonus songs on III have really struck me like that. I mean I'll stop to play a few of the regular songs, and I'll make my brother play Cities on Flame more than he wants to, lol, but not any of the bonus songs. Maybe I need to play them all through again, maybe I'll be more impressed then. But I just don't know. Some of them just kinda suck.

Heroes Del Silencio? Naast? I appreciate that they're branching out into non-American and non-English bands who could use the exposure, but can't they pick ones (or songs from ones) that don't suck? There's gotta be bands that rock harder than Heroes Del Silencio in all of Spain. Honestly I haven't heard any of their other songs, but I don't know. Avalancha kinda seems to be their most popular one, even before III came out.

Well, I wasn't impressed either when I seen the songlist, but it's not that easy to just make a notechart and walla, the song is in the game. They have to get permission to use a copyrighted song. But I just got it today and I'm kind of dissappointed that it's differant from GH2, But I'll get use to it. I don't much like these boss battles though.

I know, it takes time to get a copyrighted song, which is why Metallica took so long to nab. But, still, it can be done. This felt kinda rushed. I mean, I dunno about other systems, but I've had a chance to look at the graphics on GH3, and they kinda suck. The band members movements are far too stiff, the singer's mouth and face basically looks like a Jim Henson puppet. If the songs they used alone aren't enough to tell that it felt a little rushed, then the fact that the graphics are terrible is.

Now I don't particularly care the graphics are bad. It's not what makes the gameplay fun. But it's just an indicator of the kinda work they decided was "good enough" for the third one.

It has all seemed a lot more about making the bucks than making the good game lately. What with the '80s edition costing as much as any other installment (despite having much less than half the songs), and now Guitar Hero III just not being the best game they've put out so far. I mean Before 80s came out, we had a logical progression. GHII was for certain better than one. III is doubtful. IV doesn't look that promising in this case.

Well, just from playing Guitar Hero 3 yesterday for the first time, I can say tha Guitar Hero 2 is alot better. Theres not a song that I can't play on GH2. But for GH3, I could definately do without a few songs. It actually remeinds me of GH1, the way it has songs that I dislike on it.

I agree.... I read into the hype a little too much. It sounded like an awesome game and despite the fact that (looking at the setlist) there were only a few songs that truly rocked on there, I thought it would be the best game yet.

But I was kinda wrong. I agree, I definetly find GH2 to be better. Don't get me wrong, GH3 is a fairly good game (especially seeing that the last 4 songs on the setlist and a handful of others are *beep* awesome and you can get several costumes for each character). I just think there are a few too many negative points about the game.

Anyway, enough jibberjabber.... I'm out

I will agree that GH III has its bad songs (For Example: the first two tier's besides Schools Out) but it has its great songs too like One, Stricken, Through the Fire and Flames, Miss Murder, Prayer of the Refugee ETC.

But Guitar Hero II had its bad selection of tracks as well (Woman, War Pigs, Hush, All the Bonus songs).

I dunno, personally i prefer GHIII to GHII for the most part because the songs aren't a horrible cover of the real song. but i really REALLY hate that they got rid of Pandora, now im stuck playing Emo Casey Lynch =(

...And i promise you,
I will treat you well,
